I have never been on the Tower of Terror but I plan on trying it when we go to Disneyland later in March. Is it a tough ride or not so tough? Just curious. Looks like it has a pretty scary build-up.:scared1:

I think the majority of the responses you get will be positive. Or the "you have to try it just once" kinda thing. I wish I could, but I chickened out last year. Went through the que, got my seat, buckled myself up and made a quick dash off. Leaving my DBF, my sister, brother in law and 10 year old nephew. Got called a few absurd names as I walked off by a few of the testosterone riders...but I just shrugged it off. :confused3
I wish I could do it....I'm just a wimp I guess. I prefer the stairs myself. No really I do though, I despise the feeling that elevators give me anyway. I will take 4 flights of stairs before I give in and do an elevator somewhere.

Unfortunately, I think a lot of people will disagree on what defines a tough ride or not, but I will give you my take!

I do not think it is so tough. It is scary, as Disney puts you in that time and tells the story all around you! I think just looking at the stuff in line, especially being in the boiler room waiting for the elevator, just makes you feel scared-it's the environment! There is a holding room prior to this where you see a short movie, Twilight Zone style, It is dark in there and eerie, scary.

The ride itself is very fun! It "gets you ready" with small drops before you take the big drop. Honestly, once it drops the first big one, you really don't feel anything else! Sometimes it seems like you can't tell whether you're going up or down. It is fun and you'll probably want to do it again when you get off. I always tell people to scream-it actually helps! The first time is always the scariest because you don't know what to expect. This ride is my dd10's favorite. She was always scared to go on it, and we never made her. She finally decided last year that she wanted to try it, and she's loved it ever since. We actually got a "mini dream" once where they let us stay on for a 2nd ride-she loved that! Now she's always asking-can we go again! :)

Also, just to clarify a tidbid about the ride-the elevator is not actually dropped, it is pulled down. They completely control the way the ride drops. I thought that was pretty neat. Another thing, I don't like the Maliboomer or other drop zone type rides, but I do love tot! :)

My 5 year old dd LOVES the ride! She wouldn't stop going on the ride. She was scared to death of the movie "tough to be a bug" but not the tower. Myself, the first time I went on I liked it and it wasn't to bad. When I went recently to disneyland and I went on and was very sick after the ride. To me, it makes my stomach feel like it is moving upward and I really hate that feeling. I like sitting in the back if I go on and it seems less intense and usually to the far side of the wall. I hate how there isn't a lot of room to hold on depending on where you sit and who you are sitting with. I think you will regret it if you don't try it and go on at least once. If you have no medical conditions then the worst that can happen is that you will get sick and I don't think the ride is that bad unless you eat a lot.
The last time we went on the ride, you could see your picture but couldnt buy it..didnt understand that.

I just have to say it is hands down one of my all-time favorite rides (or in this case, attractions.) And thats a little weird, considering that though I love roller coasters, and all other rides, I just do not like drop rides that much.

It's fantastic. The build-up is a little scary (Only a little. It's the twilight zone, it's more cheesy than scary to me), yes, but the actual drops are more fun than scary.

I don't have any experience on ToT but I can say...it is one of the rides that we truly regret not going on. After we got home, everyone kept asking us how we liked it and we had to tell them we didn't go on it. They would look at us like we were idiots....really!

So, we're going back in May and ToT is on our "do or die" list. :)

My Mother and Grandmother who don't do roller coasters or wild rides both love it! My Grandmother is very afraid of heights and still had a great time. This is the woman who got talked into doing Free Fall at MM and thought she was going to die on that ride. I agree that you need to at least try it once or you will never know if you like it or not.

That's how my 6yo was. She hated and still hates It's Tough To Be A Bug but will do TOT many times back to back. She first rode it when she was 4 and was not too thrilled. We have a 3 times rule in our household. You have to try it 3 times and if you still don't like it, then you don't have to do it anymore. By her third try, she was in giggles over the ride. She absolutely loves TOT and loves raising her hand to get a little airborne in her seat.

I think the scariest time is your 1st ride in it since you don't know what to expect. After that, you get to appreciate all the details in the ride since you're not so frantic about it anymore.

The first time I went on it i was gripping the handles so tight my knuckles werre white! But it was soooo fun! It gets the heart racing! I took my brother's gf on for the first time dec '06.. she freaked out and grabbed the guy's leg next to her!:rotfl:

I have a love hate relationship with the TOT. I have only ridden it twice in our many trips. I'm not a huge fan of the dropping feeling, but this one is very do-able, I think because you can't see how far you are dropping. When on it I usually laugh non stop (you know that high pitched nervous laughter!!)because I can't quite figure out whether to do that or cry! My daughter just turned 8 and has been on this ride, probably 20 times or more since she was 5. My son(6) on the other hand refuses to even get near the ride. He is not a fan of fast or dark, so this one is definitely not his idea of fun.

I pretty much agree with everything that's been said. The first time it is scary. Before the ride starts to drop and get going they take a little picture of you and everyone on the ride that's done it before puts their hands up and waves, all the first timers have their hands welded to the handlebars in anticipation and fear of what's going to happen next. But when the ride does get going it's a blast. My first time I was terrified and with the biggest ride baby ever and we laughed the whole time it was great fun. I laughed so hard I cried a little.

Then the second time, when we knew what was going to happen it was so tame, and the ride baby I was with stared at my hair the whole ride watching it go up and down lol.

Try it, it's more fun than you're thinking.

I hate drops. REALLY hate them. Even the 2 small drops on Pirates are too much for me. Splash Mountain is the worst!

However, I REALLY like Tower of Terror! It's a different type of drop feeling, and it's so much fun. I laugh the whole ride :)

I LOVE ToT! I don't quite understand how the theming is really that "scary". I would think HM would be more so. Try it!

If you somehow chicken out and don't ride ToT you are missing out on one of the best attractions WDC has ever created. The WDW version is the original and better but the DLR version is still great. You know when WDC every now and then comes up with a truly brilliant attraction? ToT is one of those. Ride it and love it. ToT is on the level of Space Mountain, Indiana Jones, Big Thunder, Haunted Mansion, Pirates... Disney at it's best.

I went on it for the first time in December and was freaked out before going on it but now I wish that I would have gone it more. I say go for it! you might love it just like I did.

the dropping is just not really that scarey. You think it will be, but it's not. The whole ride is great, one of Disney's best I think. My only complaint is I wish there were several more drops. it ends too soon.

For the most fun, keep your seatbelt as loose as possible and keep your hands up the WHOLE time. If you can keep your belt loose enough so that your butt leaves the seat on the drop, that is the best! Very neat feeling.

To all the chickens: just do it. You'll see how you are worrying about nothing. Anyone who is too scared to ride a DISNEY ride should have their head examined. My son rode this several times per trip starting at about age 6. come on you grown ups, grow up! ;)

My DH and DS7 rode this (DS7's first time) last October, and DS loved it! I can tell how much fun he had by how loud and how fast he talks when he gets off a ride, and in this one he was VERY LOUD and was talkingalmosttoofasttounderstand! :lmao:

DS wanted me to take him on the ride next, but DH thought it might be too scary for me, so I chickened out.

Disneegrl4eva talked me into going on it with her last month. I was really nervous about it (I mean seriously scared!) but she said it wasn't spooky scary, just thrilling scary. So I went.

All I can say is that it was awesome, and I wanted to go on it again! WOOHOO!!! :woohoo:

I would say if you can do Indiana Jones, you can certainly do this one. :thumbsup2
