We rode Tower of Terror 4 last week and I didn't find it as thrilling as the last time I rode it (Dec 2001). I think it was missing a long drop. Is it just me?

I recently rode this for the first time in January. My first ride I was so scared...closed my eyes the entire time, and screamed when we dropped. It turned out to be my favorite ride...I made my BF ride it three times on our last day in MGM...i think it is scary because you don't know what is coming...now, I didn't ride it before, but I did really enjoy it every time I rode it.

My first trip ever was in January and I found this ride to be alot less thrilling than what I had read. There are no long drops and that's what I assumed would happen..... Adding 1 long drop would actually keep the name "Tower of Terror" in my book....

It was still fun, but not even on my top 10 rides at WDW. We have a ride in Houston that drops you 9 floors I believe- now that's Terror!!!

As far as I could tell (I tried to keep up with the drop sequences, really I did) one of the sequences doesn't have a long drop, the other three sequences have at least one. Maybe you guys rode the one without it? That's the sequence I don't like, for that very reason.

I had avoided ToT for awhile now. But, in August '03 I finally did it. Got off and said 'That was it? Hey, no big deal.' Well. Did it again in Dec. Whole different ride. Never again for me!!! I must have gotten the weenie sequence in August!!! 'Cause the sequence in Dec was horrifying!!!

Maybe why it seemed less thrilling is because they added something that makes the drops unknown. Like it could go up or down first. When it goes up first it is defenitly less terrorizing.:earseek:

I think part of the fun is not knowing how far you're going to drop, and if you're going to go up or down...it's the UNKNOWN that makes it so much fun!! :earseek:

When I ride ToT this summer for the very first time, can someone please, please be sure to set me up with the "weenie sequence?"
Otherwise I think I won't survive! :D

ME TOO!!!!!!!! I want the weenie sequence!!! lololol:teeth:

I liked it better with the lapbar than the seat belts. You seemed to get more "air time" with the lapbar, especially if you had some big in your row. Still one of my favorite rides! ToT and RnR, what a twosome! About the only things I like in MGM.

I actually kinda leave my seat belt loose and use my legs to rise up out of my seat .

Tower of Terror is my favorite ride at Disney. I rode it for the first time last week since summer 2002. I thought it was much scarier now, than it used to be. The drops were not as good though. Maybe we were on the one without the big drop. But because they mix it up and show the people throughout the drops, you get thrown off as to whether you are going to drop next or go up next. I was quite uncomfortable and ready for it to end. Granted, my least favorite part of the ride are the drops. I ride it for the experience. I do not like the drop. I just deal with it because it is worth it. I'm sure I will hesitate to ride it next time just because it was much scarier.

MORE airtime!!!!???? Now, me, I want as little airtime as possible. In fact, I wouldn't mind a shoulder harness!! But, I do love RnRC!!!

I've never been on it, but my fearless ds is 3.5 and 40 inches exactly. He begs to go on everything he sees and he'd probably love it, but I don't want it to scare him so bad that he won't go on anything else. Have you ever seen any kids that young on it? I'm surprised the height requirement is only 40 inches. Thanks!

My DD, who first rode it when she was 4, loves ToT. The first time, she didn't like the thunder in the pre-show or the ghosts, but loved the drops. She now handles the ghosts just fine and holds my hand during the thunder. She actually likes the seatbelts better than the lap bar, she says it's scarier!! Did I mention that DD stands for "daredevil"!!?!! She also loves RNRC, but only if she rides in the front or middle. The back knocks her around too much.

I've never been on the TOT before---I'll have my 73 year old Mom with me and we'd love to see the preshow, but we don't want the scary elevator ride~~is there anyway we could do the preshow and then leave without riding the elevator???

After the pre-show, you tell the attendant when you get to the elevators that you don't want to ride and they will direct you to the "chicken exit." Most, if not all, of the thrill rides have a chicken exit.

My DD who is four, rode it for the first time in August. I told her a little about what would happen---the library, the ghosts---and kept my hand on her lap for reassurance.
She loved it! She giggled the whole time. For her, I think it was like a giant, dark Frog Hopper.
As soon as we were off, she wanted to go again. I can't do it back to back, so her Uncle took her back on.
Again, she giggled throughout all the drops.

It may have helped her with the storyline, that before our trip I had rented the "Tower of Terror" movie, starring Steve Guttenberg.

And as with every ride, before we got on we told her that at any point she is allowed to cover her eyes and ears.

You can walk through just to see the preshow. They have a "chicken" exit before you get on the elevator. That is what my mom did, because she just wanted to see the inside of the hotel.

The chicken exit sounds perfect for me and my Mom, I'll let DH and DS ride down the scary way. ;) Thanks---again!!! You guys are SO helpful!!!

Thanks so much for the info....he'll definitely do ok then, the Haunted Mansion in MK is his favorite, and he'll think it's hillarious that I'm afraid, glad to know there's a chicken exit for me.
