Last night, one of my best Disney buddies and I watched the old Tower of Terror movie. We both had seen it in the 90s when it premiered on ABC and I happened to have a copy on DVD, which she saw at my place in September...so we elected to spend our Halloween night with it!!
Now there's a huge plot hole at the end, and we spent a good 10 minutes or so debating it afterward, so we're curious about other interpretations of it...
SPOILER WARNING AHEAD (if you haven't seen it)...
When Sally and Abby are in the elevator and the spell is broken by Sally's forgiveness of Abby, Abby is nowhere to be seen when the elevators crash. You could argue she didn't survive the crash, but everyone else on the elevator did. Granted, Abby is about 70 or so in the film, but where did she go to?
Next thing you know, she's about 10 again and is with Sally at the party.
Did she somehow perish in the elevator crash and become a ghost or did something else happen? Did the entire curse get reversed and the five ghosts now are in a parallel universe? We're sort of going with that theory...and somehow these people are no longer around when the hotel re-opens (Miss Partridge and Dewey are likely dead at that point given their age, Gilbert and Claire are probably in their 80s, Sally could be in NYC or something or could have just gone on to have a non-Hollywood career like the actress who played her).
Abby is the wild card. What about the doctor at the hospital who gets shown earlier? Wouldn't he have a memory of Abby being at the hospital since 1940?
I know we're probably overthinking a made-for-TV Disney movie, but after a good intense conversation between two fully grown adults over this topic last night, this seemed the only place to ask about it
