Well this is 'funny' to me and my husband - but not funny to our two boys! First of all, they rode the tower of terror with us and absolutely hated it (they are 9 and 7). They just hated it and it makes us so sad because we love that ride!

Anyway - when we rode it again on Saturday (the last day of our trip) - we just let the two boys take the 'chicken' elevator down with a castmember to wait for us since we'd be down there in a flash.

They said that they were down there sitting on a bench near the store by the picture section and someone ran up to them, 'snapped' their picture, and then ran away saying, "Chickens!"

Needless to say I laughed until I almost cried - but the boys were fumming mad! And mad at ME mostly for laughing! I told them I 'thought' it might have been a joke played by a castmember - or even just by another person, but I totally don't know so I'm wondering if anyone has any close experience to that ? I tried to explain to them that it was just in fun I'm sure, and not to be worried they really weren't 'chicken's' - that it's ok not to like a ride - but they still were just so hurt that someone would call them "chickens" and then take their picture to boot! I'm really anxious to hear if this has happened to anyone else!

I plan on going through just to look around and take some videos or pictures then take the chicken elevator. (medical reasons can't ride) Tell the boys that it is ok to be a chicken they are in a good company. :thumbsup2

If it looks like a chicken elevator...

If it cackles like a chicken elevator...

If it waddles like a chicken elevator...

It probably IS a chicken elevator...

And ridden by WHOM???

:goodvibes

Tell your kids not to worry, our DS7 always calls me a chicken when it comes to those kind of rides. I won't even go so far as to wait in line on ToT. I just sit on the bench waiting for DW and DS7 to finish the ride so we can move on to RnR or something else.

You can most likely see their picture up on ChickenBenchwarmers.com

It's the latest thing in Amusement park activity :lmao:

I can't believe you laughed at them for this :stir:

Like I've said, these boards can be fun and are 'supposed' to be fun, yet people can be downright rude with their comments and it's absurd. I knew when I posted this someone would make a condescending comment, and I thought I made it clear that I didn't laugh "AT THEM" as this terrible person who would humiliate their children - I laughed at the situation and the way they told the story. And when they were upset about us laughing - we explained that the 'situation' was funny - and we understood why it would bother them - but we explained to them very clearly that it's OK to not ride a ride, and just like in life - you have to let people 'name-calling' roll off the ol' back. They understood just fine !! It boils down to the situation was funny, and obviously most people have found and will continue to see the humor in it.

I can't wait to check out that site ChickenBenchwarmers.com, I hope there picture isn't in there - and is it seriously a website ? Call me gullable but I'm going to check it !!!

We need an icon with a hook, a fish, and a fishing line! No such site ! Oh well it was fun trying to find that site !!

I was kidding . If it would have been DD i would have been laughing as well until I relised it really bothered her.

We can all laugh now because we are not in front of our kids or yours . It's funny but in a behind your back funny not in your face funny.

That's exactly it - 'behind your back funny' - perfect correlation! We know how easy our kids feelings get hurt so that's exactly it - we can't laugh when we know it hurts them, but man it cracked me up !! When they get big, they'll realize it was all in fun !

:lmao: You should have gotten the descrpition of the "picture takers" so that you could have asked for a copy :rotfl:

That is hilarious.

A couple short stories.

One time I was riding ToT with my other half and we enter the drop shaft and drop immediately. My partner screamed, something he hasn't done in that ride. When the ride finally ended he said "we were supposed to go up first, not down!" Not haha funny, but I got a kick out of it.

Another time we were riding and as we were going through the 5th dimension and I heard what sounded like a small girl starting to cry. By the time we entered the drop shaft she was bawling and saying "no! no!" She was crying even louder while we were going up and down. When the ride ended, I looked back to see a fully grown man with puffy red eyes still sobbing. The picture was hilarious, it was a mixture of people cracking up and others trying to see who was crying so loudly.

That story is too funny! And yes the pictures are absolutely hilarious to see all the different people's expressions! Priceless! What I love about that ride is apparently they can change the drop sequence at any given time and that to me is absolutely billiant! I really think that has to be my favorite ride hands down - it's a tough call between that and RNRollerCoaster, but TOT will always be a favorite for me !

Sorry but if that happened to my kids, I would have laughed to. Its funny!

Lighten up people!!!

On a side note, DS (8) rode it for the 1st time during our trip in September after I bribed him by telling him I would buy him a game for his PS II. I know "Horrible mom". He wasn't too happy with it either. Actually didn't mind the drops, just didn't like what led up to them.

But we're back and he's having fun playing his new Lego Star Wars II.

Hmmm, wow, I actually found that to be quite rude...if it was a CM or a guest just joking around with the boys to make them laugh or whatever then fine, but...if the boys were actually hurt by it (as the OP said) then I don't really find it funny :confused3
