Hi everyone -- I have a fiarly fearless 4-year-old. He LOVES roller coasters (at least the tame ones he's tall enough for). He's 43 inches now. He does not really like 3D movies or things that pop out at him. I've been to Tower of Terror at WDW and don't remember anything really popping out. However, two of my co-workers came back from DLR with hurt backs from Tower of Terror, so I'm a little worried about the little guy. I showed him video of the actual drop on the Travel Channel and he said he wanted to go on the ride but I'm still nervous. Advice?

My three year old loved it. Went on it 3 times in a row. We showed him youtube videos of all the possible scary rides before we went so he wouldn't be as surprised otherwise. As for the back issue, if you don't hold on the the little hand holds next to your hips you will go weightless for a bit at the top of some of the drops. So coming back down in your seat could hurt someones back I suppose.

My fearless ds loved it at 3 1/2! Show him the ride video on youtube and see how it goes and decide from there.

Wifes friend took her 5 year old twins on it and they loved it.

Last trip all of us went on it and myself, my son who's 6 and my brothers son whos 6 loved it. Everbody else hated it. Including some 12 year old both boys and girls. My son loved it so much he begged me to take him again.

I say take him on it and if he likes it take him again and if not then try next trip.

You guys make me feel good about taking him! Thanks! :) I'll show him the whole ride on youtube before (I was going to not tell him to the day we left that we'd be at Disneyland, but I'll just show him the video and ask him what he thinks).

We took our 4yr old on it last month and she did NOT love it. She is pretty fearless and had no reservations about going on it. But once it started she was not a happy camper, at all. In the picture she is smiling though. I think they take it on the first trip up when the doors open. I think she was smiling because she thought it was over, and it wasn't! That is the only ride she didn't like and probably won't try again any time soon.

I didn't show mine any videos of the rides. I figured it may scare them and they wouldn't wanna ride it. Its a hard call as some people take rides differntly.

My relatively fearless son 6 rode rollercoasters et al and loved them. Hated tot though . Says he will never do it again

I will say the motion is so different from any other type of rollercoaster -- a different kind of thrill. We got DD7 and DS4 on it, but I don't think I could have convinced them to ride it again that trip, and they loved everything else. Based on what you said about your child, I think you should give it a go. After they ride it once they can decide if it's a keeper.

My 35 year old daughter who LOVES the scary coasters, hated it. Some of our group loved it, some vowed to never go again. You know your child. I would never take any of my 4 year old grandsons. They are all kind of wimpy......me too.

My fearless 4 yo (now 5) went on it last time and did not like it. I think it is more the spooky atmosphere than the actual drop that she didn't like. She does not want to do it again.

My son was 6 when we took him on it and he is pretty fearless and he was so excited to go on tot. But once it started he was freaked out! he was coming up off of the seat and my husband held him down. But everyone is different so your child may love it.

Took my 5 year old DD on last month and she loved it. My DH and I had to baby swap, so she rode on it 2x in a row. Of course I have to wonder about her since she giggled the whole way though SM that morning.

I took my (then 5 yr old) DD on the one at HS in Orlando. She hated it! She loved all the coasters, but the TOT (and Dinosaur, which tells me how she would probably do with Indy) she hated. I don't think it was the drop, she's gone on the kid-hopper rides with the same motion with no problem. I think it was the darkness and scary-ness. So, I don't think he would have a problem with the wildness of the ride, as long as the spookiness didn't scare him.

ToT was my DS4 favorite ride this trip, he rode 3 times and kept asking to come back. He did seem spooked when he was going through it the first time, but he wanted to go back. I think he mostly enjoyed the fact that he was riding something that mommy was too afraid to ride, so it was a "boys ride".

If he likes shows like Scooby Doo, Casper et al. loves Halloween and the like, I believe he will like the ride. Children seem to be pretty fearless. If he does not become scared by the que, or the library and the way up to the elevator, I think again he will be fine.
Just in case though, bring an extra set of clean clothing.... ;)

My DD was 4 and 1/2 the first time she rode it and she said, "That is the scariest ride. I hated it. Can we go on it again?".

At age 10, it is still her favorite.

How do you get a child to go on and not an adult just saying I would not go near that ride the drops alone freak me out

wow! I didn't know they let them on that young? My DS was 7 the first time he went and I was even pretrified for him, needless to say it was in February and he went on 8 times in a row. i can't imagine my other little boys on there 7, 6. lol. I guess its up to the individual child.
