Tower of Terror and Rocking Roller Coaster

In May we rode RnRC for the first time. I'm not a fan of coasters but DD8 was tall enough this trip and her friends had ridden it and told her all about it so it was a must do for her. I had no way to avoid it, lol. It was really not that bad. I enjoyed the ride and the music. The dread leading up to it was much more terrifying than the ride itself. I'd ride it again - give it a try.

ToT was not on DDs agenda so I didn't have to mom up for that one.

I actually would not compare Space Mountain with Rock N Roller Coaster at all. Yes, they're both in the dark. That's really all they have in common.

Space goes 28mph. RnRC goes 60.

Space has no inversions. RnRC has 3.

Space has a chain lift. RnRC has a launch.

RnRC is definitely more intense than Space. It's super fun, but more intense.

While these points are all accurate, I find them comparable and RnR actually an "easier" ride than SM. SM has no head or upper back support and it's jerky. RnR cars are state of the art - full head support.

Those inversions on RnR are no big deal - because you're going fast, tit's in the dark, the support, and the smoothness of the track. A friend of mind rode it the first time and didn't even know about the inversions until someone told him about it after getting off.

I was a ride baby before going to WDW and like OP at that time going on Thunder and Splash were big accomplishments for me. From that perspective, this advice.... Do NOT skip RnR - it's the best ride on property.

I actaully think ToT is the second best - I've done drop rides at 6 flags parks and ToT isn't as bad because you're inside and never really see how high you are off of the ground. You know you're not dropping until the elevator moves to the front of the building and engages, and the ups and downs are pretty thrilling. I find the 6 flags rides terrifying because of the hights. Also, the ToT themeing, and the hotel/queue are spactacular and not to be missed. Again, from a ride whimp, I'd say go for ToT.

Hehe, how much of a "ride baby" would you consider me if I told you I have never been on Splash Mountain? I got too scared waiting in line and had to chicken out of it. Luckily that was very early on in the line, so no one else got to see what a wuss I was. I am planning on conquering that ride this trip as well!

RnR is awesome! I almost backed out but I'm glad I didn't. I liked it better than EE. Possibly my most favorite coaster from any park.

I still didn't ride ToT. :goodvibes I'm a chicken!

I think if you're afraid of heights than ToT is scary. Otherwise it's a lot of fun. And, the series of drops is completely different everytime you ride it. Last time I rode it we shot all the way up and all the way down in complete dark. That was fun.

I got on RnRC not really knowing what to expect. I'm not really an inversion roller coaster kind of guy. If I had seen it from the outside I probably never would have gotten on it. But now that I've done it, I'm ready to go again!

I don't think either is all that scary. However, except for that ride that sends you face-first toward the ground (which, of course, is NOT at Disney), I don't ever get scared on any rides.

Disney thrill rides are all on the wimpy side. They are not state of the art, super-cool, thrilling thrill rides. They're rides for people who want to say they rode thrill rides, but don't actually want to do it, KWIM? :)

RnRc is the closest thing WDW has to a real, cool thrill ride. It is faster than Space Mountain, but smoother. They're really very different.

ToT is fun. I supposed people who can't stand drops would be scared, but other than that, it's just fun. :)

I love ToT and liked RnRC too. I think the scariest part of ToT is the anticipation. The actual drops are not that bad. It's fast, and really fun.

I only got to go on RnRC once in the dying moments of our very last day at Disney, so I can't say I love it yet. But it wasn't nearly as intense as I imagined it would be.

ToT and EE are my 2 favorites by far.

You won't regret it. We just got back and I loved them both - RNR is my definite favorite, but TOT is very cool. My 8 y.o. wimpy son did them both - he absolutely loved RNR and was glad he did TOT, but didn't want to go on again LOL!!! You will be fine!

Two of my favorite rides! RNR is in the dark so it's hard to see the loops approaching. I think upside down rides outside where you can see it might be more scary because of anticipation.

i dont think either ride is scary, but i love rollercoasters and the like, we live near cedar point and frequent it (or have in the past.... its not fun with a too tiny kid)

BUT i will say, our (now 3yr old) who was 2 when we went sept 11-17 went on, and we went on another 3x. he loved it. (we were celebrating our 30th bdays and 40 inches!!!!

proof picture! since no one believed me

I think that, if you can get up the courage, try to go on both. I did on our first trip in 2009......found that I LOVE ToT and DO NOT LOVE RnRC (though I'm going to see if I can get up the courage to go on it again in a few weeks).

What is funny is that I also love California Screamin' in Cal Adventure (same launch start, inversions, etc. I think the difference is that RnRC is in the dark....and fear of what's coming next on a roller coaster scares me.

EE, though, my FAVORITE!!!

:) We are all different. Try them and judge for yourself!
