Tower of Terror 10 Miler 2014

I mean it's a big discount in tickets and the park hopper option is super cheap through this site but I figured that I would be saving probably at least 30 dollars going with the dining plan versus the discounted tickets. And actually it will probably be closer to 75 for savings once I add it up. I may actually keep tracking just cause I'm curious. Plus, I think I rather pay up front and not have to worry about spending money.

But I will definitely look into the discounted ticket option on the next race!

Free dining was cheaper for us as well this time, but sometimes that has to do with where you'll eat and the ages/size of your party. And like you, my daughter preferred to have everything prepaid.

I have this vague recollection of the end time changing a couple times leading up to the race last year, so they may still be tinkering.

And the first year, right? I think initially both years they had an earlier end time, but both years took it to 4am. Right?

I, too, am curious about any links. I signed up a long time ago, and there wasn't any offers nor have I gotten any emails in a long time! I do have a confirmation email. Oh well, see you all in three months. Love this thread. This is my first RunDisney event, although I am DVC. Excited to be doing something new!

I have a silly question. I know they hand out powerade on the course but I can be very sensitive to different flavors. Does anyone know what flavors they have used in the past or what they usually use so I can try and find something I can handle.

thats hard to say, and they use the powdered kind vs the kind you buy in the store. If you are sensitive, you may want to bring what you are use to drinking. They sometimes have tasters at the expo, too.

It's almost always yellow Powerade, lemon lime flavor. I think I encountered blue once, but years ago, 2008 I think. It's been yellow for the last many, many years.
Powdered mix, yes. So some water stops it may be stronger, and some water stops, it may be weaker depending on the volunteers mixing it.

I am attempting to reset my clock by doing MNSSHP the night before! It runs until midnight and there are no tasty alcoholic beverages at the MK to tempt me like there are at EP!

We are doing MNSSHP the next night. 2 of us are doing the 5K Saturday morning and I didn't want to be out late and have to wake up early to run.

As the PP said, it's been the yellow lemon-lime flavor for the last few events I've done. I would also say that if you're sensitive then bring your own drinks because the strength can vary quite a bit at each stop depending on the volunteers who mix it. It's supposed to be half-strength but sometimes it can be more.

We are doing MNSSHP Sunday night too! We are going to be park closers this trip instead of rope droppers!

RunDisney Twitter tweet a pic of the 2014 ToT Medal, same as what's been posted here. Looks great cannot wait!

The Disney blog has pics of the 3 Medal/medallions, DD and I are signed up for the 5k also and I was thinking about not doing it because of the Friday night MNSSHP but the Medallion looks awesome and glows, even more excited now!

Just wanted to let you all know that there is a user on YouTube who posted in real time a 5 part series of his run at the TOT 2013 . user is greg deese and titles are TOWER OF TERROR 10 MILER PART 1, 2,... to 5. I've watched them, as he races with his friends, race like about 10 times now start to finish. Just something I use for motivation plus its neat to see approximately what the course will be like. They use a 4:1 run/walk ratio which i plan on using on the course as well

The medals glow in the dark and the elevator goes up and down! So glad I signed up for the 10 miler this year!

Use your own. You cannot get the kind they use, because they use the powder. So there's no way to try it out.

Although I wasn't using it for TOT last year, I've since found that the Clif brand electrolyte drink powder is GREAT for me. Decent ingredients, tasty. I use the lemon/lime, make a rather strong mix in a smallish bottle, put it in the pocket in my water backpack (I'm sensitive to water, too, and Disney uses Dasani which is just filtered FL water and my stomach says NO to that), and take extra water each time I take some of the strong electrolyte mix.
