:wave2: When you are a memeber of the DVC---we have seen that you are limited to housekeeping services every four days---which is FINE---but---can someone tell me how you get fresh towels and do the pools have pool towels as all the resorts have. We've only stayed at one resort, Wilderness Lodge and LOVED IT--the pool towels were down by the pool near the bar, and housekeeping kept a fresh supply of towels in our room, the housekeeping staff there are AWESOME---right down to "terry animals" on our beds! Can't complain a bit with the service we got from WL all the way around. Thanks!

Looking Forward to September, which will be our fourth trip, first as a DVC Member! HOORAH! :Pinkbounc :bounce:

There are towels at the pools. We usually throw a bunch of towels in when we do our wash, assuming we are not in the studio. In the early days of DVC, it was simple to get extra towels (kids using the jacuzzi and using four towels when one would do  !) but we haven't done that lately.

You can either wash your own towels (there is a washer/dryer in 1 and 2BR units. In studios there is a washer/dryer available for free in a laundry room)or for a fee, get a package of towels delivered to your room every day or for a little more have your trash picked up and new towels delivered, replacing your old towels. Yes all of the pools all have towels for you to use while you are swimming as well.

Towels are replaced every four days. If you stay less than 8 days, you get your towels replaced and your trash removed on day four (with day one being check-in day). If you stay 8 days or more, you get a full cleaning with clean towels on day four, followed by trash and towels on day 8. The the cycle repeats. We make our bed every day, plus hang up our towels each day, just like at home.

So you don't have to only buy clean towels or wash your own. But if you don't hang up your towels and reuse them, you will need to do one of those.

I'd like to ask a follow-up question related to towels. We will be making our first visit "home" in a 2 bedroom villa at SSR in May. How many towels are there usually left in a 2 bedroom with 7 guests?

thanks

How about a studio with 4?

A studio and one bedroom have 4 bath towels, two hand towels and maybe four face cloths, plus a tub mat (two if you have a one bedroom). A two bedroom has 8 instead of 4.

According to the combination of the latest "New Member Handbook" and the DVC website:

Studios contain 1 Towel Package.
1 Bedrooms have 1 Bathroom and therefore contain 1 Towel Package.
2 Bedrooms have 2 Bathrooms and therefore contain 2 Towel Packages.
Grand Villas have 3 Bathrooms and therefore contain 3 Towel Packages.

A "Towel Package" is defined as:
4 bath towels
4 hand towels
4 washcloths
1 bath mat
It costs $6 if you want to request a Towel Package.

Of course, many times when you check-in, the unit does not have exactly the listed number of towels. Also, I'm not sure about this but I'd guess there might be some extra towels in the 1Br, 2Br, and GVs due to the way the bathroom is split into a Whirlpool Tub room and a Shower room? At least there should be a 2nd bath mat, right?

And AFAIK, Housekeeping is supposed to put a set number of towels in the room... it should not depend on the number of guests, right?

I remember a someone posted a thread here 1 or 2 years ago where they got Trash & Towel Service, and only got a 4,2,2 config of towels. So they went to ask the Housekeeping for 2 more hand towels and 2 more washcloths, and Housekeeping wouldn't do it, argued with them and insisted that 4,2,2 is correct and the member was mistaken and should check their guidebook. I'm not sure who was actually correct at that time though.

It's confusing because the old 2003 Member Handbook used to define that each Bathroom would contain 4,2,2. But the new 2005 "New Member Handbook" bypasses specifically listing the exact number of towels, and instead uses the terminology of "Towel Package" w/ a footnote asking members to refer to the website for the definition of "Towel Package" which the last time I checked is 4,4,4.

Okay, anyway... wow... I can't believe I just typed all that about towels. Sorry if this is more info than you needed. :o

The above post is correct except for the GV. At OKW, the GV has 4 bathrooms, so an extra two bath towels, hand towels and wash cloths there too.

Oh right, I should know that. Thanks for the correction.

I was just going by what was written in the 2005 New Member Handbook. They don't even call them "Grand Villas", they call them "Three Bedrooms" and say that 3BRs have 3 Bathrooms.

Then they list what each Bathroom should have. How confusing.

Does anyone know how much it is for daily fresh towels to be delivered? How about if I want the trash and old towels taken when the new towels are delivered? Thanks for your help. :)

A packt of extra towels is about $6. If you want housekeeping daily, which would include towels etc, the daily cost is dependent upon unit size.

It's just as easy to throw the towels into the wash if you are in a 1BR or larger unit. Usually we throw them into the wash before we leave for the day, then throw them into the dryer when we get back to the room to change for the evening's festivities, or we throw them into the dryer overnight, so they are fresh & clean for the morning showers.

I paid for extra towels once when we had 4 people in a 1BR because I like to use 2 towels to shower...one for my hair and one for my body. With the extra package, everyone had more than enough towels, so it was worth the $6.

I'll have to print that out for the next visit, because for the past few years that has NOT been the case ot OKW. Instead of the size of the room they go by the number of people, and give you ONE towel each, which means for the two of us we only get 2 towels. When I have long hair especially this is not enough, because if I don't wrap up my hair in one towel, it drips and I can't get dry with the other.

Then there was last time when the jacuzzi was broken and when the engineer finally came to fix it, he used our towels to clean up his "mess" and they did not replace them, necessitating even more time on the phone and waiting around when I wanted a shower.

I have noticed if you have your towels in the washer when trash-and-towel comes, they won't take away your old towels, but they will if they are left in the bathrooms.

You must be staying at a different OKW than we do. We had two 2 bedroom trips and one GV trip last year at OKW. Both 2 bedroom stays there were 4 bath towels in each bathroom, 2 hand towels and 2 wash cloths plus two additional wash cloths and 2 bath mats. In the GV there were 4 bath towels in the master, 2 in the hall bath, 4 in each of the two baths upstairs. When they picked up towels on T&T day, there were a couple of towels unused that we left hanging on our towel bar. They still left additional towels, so we ended up with 2 extras.
