We're headed home for the first time next week. Will be staying in AK-Kidani in a 1 bedroom with 2 adults and 2 kids for 3 nights. Will the towels provided be enough or should we bring more? What about toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, etc)? With the 2 baths I would think we'd be ok with what is initially provided but wanted to confirm. Any other items we should bring with us? We got the DDP but will have breakfast in the villa. Thanks!

You'll get refreshed every four days. So you should have one bottle of shampoo, one conditioner, one shower gel in each bathing location. So with a two bedroom you should have four of each for four days.

You will have four bath towels and two hand towels in each bathroom. You might get fewer than than (maybe only two towels in the extra bathroom), but you should have at least four bath towels, two hand towels and four face cloths.

If you drink coffee, you'll probably want to bring your own coffee and Mr Coffee basket style coffee filters. And suger or sweetener, creamer, salt, pepper. And you'll get a single use box of Tide or All on each service day for the washer and dryer. No dryer sheets or fabric softener are provided.

You'll get as much toilet paper as you need (just ask for more if you need it), paper towels, trash bags, dish detergent, dishwasher detergent.

In a 1BR you will have three sets of toiletries and at least 6 bath towels (4 in the master bath, 2 in the second bathroom). I can't recall the number of hand towels but I imagine it was either three (two in the master, one in the second bathroom) or maybe four. We just stayed in a 1BR at BLT and had more than six bath towels but I recall having six when we stayed in a 1BR at Kidani.

If you are having breakfast in the room you will need coffee and filters. They provide a packet or two (one regular, one decaf or maybe just one packet of regular coffee).

Are the shampoos and conditioners the little mini bottles, or are they larger than in the other resorts? We usually go through one of the little bottles per day, but this is our first stay since we bought DVC and won't be recieving toiletries every day. Just wondering if I need to pack some extra.

Same little travel size bottles. You'll need to bring your own if you think that's not enough.

Thanks. Will bring extra laundry detergent and dryer sheets instead of towels. And some extra shampoo and conditioner too. They should switch to the slightly larger sized DCL uses but then I guess we'd have to pay for that. ;)

We discovered another reason it can be helpful to have some of your own shampoo. The former toiletries were distinctive: the shampoo was a creamy blue, the conditioner was white and the shower gel was a translucent blue. With the new toiletries the shampoo and conditioner are both creamy white and both bottles have green labels. The only difference is the words (in tiny print) "shampoo" or "conditioner". On our most recent stay we got three sets of toiletries EXCEPT that in two out of three cases, we got two bottles of conditioner and no shampoo. (Bad bottle design given that for many mousekeepers, English is not their first language.)

Fortunately, I had saved some leftover shampoo from a previous trip in my owners locker.

As a new member you are already learning. We don't get anything for free. We pay for everything we get. People ask the housekeeper for extra towels? We pay for them. People ask for shampoo, soap, etc to take home with them? We pay for those.

Yikes! I can't imagine asking for shampoo, etc. to take home. I take home ones in rooms that we haven't used but not go ask for more to take home. They do sell bigger sizes in the stores lol! As my dad used to say no thing is free!

I just go to Dollar Tree and pick up a bottle of shampoo and conditioner before the trip and put them in my suitcase inside a ziplock bag. If I buy too many things during the trip so that I can't fit the shampoo and conditioner for the trip home, I'm only out $2.

Thanks!
I'll bring my own. I hate to take up extra space in the suitcase for it, but I guess that gives me more room for SouvinEars coming home, doesn't it???:goodvibes

Just picked up a few small travel size bottles at Target today. We're driving but since we're only going for a few days I don't want to take too much. We're already bringing some grocery items for breakfast and snacks as well as a case (or maybe half a case) of water bottles to take with us into the parks.

You will have enough to start, and trash and towel every few days.. enjoy!

You might want to consider an Owners Locker (OL). We keep huge beach towels and toiletries in there. Just a thought.
