Well, after 11 years of membership, when we checked into OKW this week we found our first towel character. See Photo. So the question (and poll) is what to do.

1. Just take it home and don't say anything to anyone. After all, it's just for us.

2. Check with the front desk. If they say take it, then take it home.

3. Leave it for the next guest who gets this villa so they can enjoy it also.

4. Take it out of it's captive state. Remove it's bonds (rubber bands), and free it back to it's true purpose in life....being a wash cloth.

5. Dissect it, take it apart, learn it's makings. Let it give it's existance to the enhancement of our accumulative knowledge of towels.

What to do, what to do....??????

:p LOL

I love this poll!!!!

I know my kids would want to keep it so I would ask the front desk....then if they said "Sure!" I would carefully inspect ( sounds nicer than dissect) to make sure I could replicate it.

So answer is # 2...then #5....then put it back together :hyper:

Rumor has it (on the other towel animal thread...Resorts board maybe??) that these towel animals are meant to be gifts. Many folks report that they called housekeeping and confirmed this.

Not sure if this is correct for DVC, though. I can only assume that we pay for those washcloths! :)

Save the Magic! or if they prefer you not take it home then share the magic. Either way be extra generous with housekeeping. I would send your photo with a nice thank you note to Jackie Leuders. The staff learn this and do it on their own. It is part of how they connect with the guests and create magical memories. I am sure they appreciate knowing that the guests enjoy the effort and creativity.

Wow, thanks for the picture. I've never had the pleasure of seeing a little towel character in a room. We visited the Portobello restaurant a few years ago and the waiter made napkin characters. It was the highlight of the evening.

As much as I would like the character, I wouldn't take the towel.

I would save the picture for take home memories, and leave it. It's a cute character, and I haven't seen one of those before.

Bobbi:boat:

You've already saved it by taking a picture. Leave the towels, keep the pic. It's awfully cute!

I would probably take a picture of it and then take it apart and use it. :rolleyes
(Wow, I'm terrible!)

Only ONCE in all our trips to WDW have we had a "fun" mousekeeper. It was our first stay at All-Star Movies and my oldest was 3, last hurrah before her younger sister was born.
This was a magical trip. First, they filled our request to be near Buzz Lightyear (My daughter was obsessed with Toy Story at the time.) by having us on the first floor STARING across from it, then our mousekeeper everyday left a window display for us with towel characters and all our goodies we had brought or bought. It was quite impressive! It thrilled my daughter to no end coming back each night to see our window! That was a good trip. My oldest is my angel, my youngest is my little terror. :p At least she adds some drama to our trips now... :)

Without hesitation I would take a photo and leave it be so we could enjoy it during our stay. By taking it home you deter housekeeping from continuing this extra effort. If you were lucky enough to get one I would certainly feel that a follow up letter of appreciation would be in order. And I would not forget to leave a little gratuity for housekeeping.

If these were meant to be gifts (to be taken home) I would think that a simple little note would of been left along with it by a CM.

Mousekeeping left one for our DD's at BCV 9/03. There were three penguins in a boat, too cute! We kept them intact for our enjoyment thorughout the remainder of our stay, but I took them apart and returned them to the washcloth inventory when we left, after taking many pictures.::yes::

Caskbill:

Please tell us what you are planning to do

:teeth:

On our second trip to WDW 6 years ago, we stayed at WL for the second time.
By the end of the trip we had 5 diferent Towel Critters ::yes::
It was Pixie Dust like this that led us to decide and join DVC in 2000 at VWL

10 visits and an add-on at BCV with no looking back.

When people ask me why, I tell them about these little things . . .

Take a picture , your Critter can only live at a Magical Place.

I wonder if the Tag Fairy is related to the "Towel Character Fairy?"

I suggest #4 but first you must disect it, learn how to re-create it, then in the dark of night sneak down to the pool and turn each and every towel into a similar creature. Place them all around the perimeter of the pool. Think of all the happiness you would be spreading and sharing.;) ;) ;)

Cute poll, Bill! We always leave it for the next guest to enjoy.

The last 2 times that we stayed at WL, we had a critter every day. We saved them all and took a picture at the end of the trip and left them. It's a nice surprise at the end of a long day.

I vote take a pic, leave it AND learn it ! On our '02 Disney cruise, the kids loved the towel animals our room steward left for us every night. They got so excited to see which animal was going to be there next when we returned to our rooms at night. He saw how much the kids really got into it and on our final night of the cruise we found "learn how" to pamphlets on our beds next to the final towel animals. The kids had so much fun practicing making these from the instructions when we got home.

We've always taken pictures and left the towel creations. I figure why risk dues going up and if I brought it home, I'd only throw it away eventually (dust gatherers and I are not on a friendly rapport) LOL.

That's a SUPER SWEET character! I'd just enjoy it for my time there, take pictures, perhaps even take it on a trip to one of the parks, then leave it behind...oh, but I would feel so sad for it, probably to be turned back into a measly washcloth...so then I might need to "rescue" that towel animal and take it home with me.
