I've seen the pictures, but I have what is probably a stupid question - are they the regular towels that you undo and then use or are they for decoration and if so, are they yours to keep or do you pay for them?

They are just regular bath towels, hand towels and washcloths. We took pictures on our trip to Poly in 2000 (no animals on our last trip :( ) and then used the towels. Hope this helps. My boys loved it!

We just got back last night from the Wilderness Lodge, and this is the first time our mousekeeper made us towel animals! We've stayed at Coronado Springs, Riverside, Polynesian and the Swan and Dolphin.

They are made out of wash clothes, and she added little pipe cleaners, and little round stickers for the eyes, etc. She made a monkey (I think it's a monkey!) a bird and a duck.

Very cute....once I get my photos developed, I'll add them here!

We brought all three home with us. Yes, the towels are re-usable, but who would want to! They're too cute!

My daughter LOVED the towel animals.. such a nice touch.

She hid them in the closet every night - and then brought them out the next evening to add to the new one... by the end of the week we had quite a stash of towels and face clothes hidden away...

She gave them all names and played with them... on the last day we left them all lined up on the bed... the maid must have thought we were nuts.

>>^..^<<

You are not really supposed to take the towels home with you. It's just something that you are supposed to admire.

You know, it's funny. I never thought of taking them home with us, then the other day I was at a clients office and she had a Disney bookshelf with a bunch of them on there. I guess I was a little surprised - do most people take them home?

Just curious. :bounce:

Wouldn't you get charged for taking them home? Isn't it like taking a towel from any other hotel...

If people keep stealing the towels, Disney may tell the houskeepers to stop making them.

They are not yours to keep. One of the days she undid one that she had created to make another one. We took pictures of them. I would hate to see the practice stopped because they were missing the washcloths.

Hey <<^..^>> !!!!! I don't know if you'll see this thread again but I wanted to compliment you on your outstanding website with all of your family photos! Your DD is just the cutest! Your story about getting your little girl's stuffed animals back in your room made the tear ducts flow from my eyes! What a great story! For some crazy reason, I get a kick out of seeing everyone's family pics. There is something about standing in the same place as everyone else and having almost identical pictures! Anyway, I can see the love you have for your little girl in every photo and I can tell she really appreciates you for every second you're in WDW together!

Well lock me up and throw away the key!

The WL has all my credit card information, if they choose to bill me for the 4 or 5 washclothes that it took to make the little animals, they will.

What's next----they'll start charging for all the soap and shampoo people take home with them?

Oh....I guess nobody else does that either!

I have to agree with the other posts.

I think that you are expected to take the tolietries, they are there for your use. They can not be washed and reused for other guests when you are done with them like the washcloths.

I hate to say it, but it is stealing.

Like I said....lock me up and throw away the key!

I think I'll send a fax to the higher ups at Disney to please place a little sign in the hotel rooms that state "please do not remove any towel animals your mousekeeper may make, it is considered theft and you will be charged accordingly!"

What a riot!

On our first trip onsite we got little bunnies at the CBR. I honestly didn't think anything of taking one home as a memory. It really didn't dawn on me that I was actually stealing! LOL! Anyway after our next trip where we got so many animals made for us, and large ones at that, I figured maybe that is a no-no! Then I posted on here about my theft of my beloved washrag bunny and was told that I was stealing. They were right! I was never charged for it but it would not have bothered me if I was. If I ever get one that I just have to have then I'll have housekeeping put it on my bill.

Anybody who ever stayed at ASMovies have towel animals made for them??? Is it only if you have children with you???

I'm a little embarassed to say, it will just be me and my bf.....but darn it ....I want towel animals... :p ;)

My DW and I had a wonderful trip to the BC in November. Our mousekeeper, Carmen, was amazing in creating TAs for us -- and we didn't even had kids! She left all kinds of creatures, including a table-sized lobster! It was a hoot to see what she did each day.

We never thought about taking them when we checked out. After all, the towels are the property of WDW.

We did leave a thank-you note and a generous tip for Carmen. I got to meet her one day before we left. She really exemplified Disney magic at its best. (She works on the 5th floor at the BC.)

Oh, and welcome Cmcvean! You picked an interesting thread for one of your first posts! Welcome, welcome welcome! ;)

Again, I am sure that if Disney feels the need to be reimbursed for the $3.00 they pay in bulk for these plain white washclothes, they know where to find me.

Oh...and on the tipping issue, we left our most excellent mousekeeper a $5.00 tip every day, and $10.00 on check out day because I know they do more work stripping the bed linens--and counting all the missing towels and washclothes! ;)
