Towel Animals... To Keep Or Not To Keep?!

Towel Animals... do you keep them or leave them behind?

  • I/we have never received a towel animal while staying at a Disney Resort.

  • I/we like them, and we take (or have taken) at least one home with us!

  • I/we like them, and we always take every one home with us!

  • I/we have received them while staying at a Disney Resort, but we have never taken one home with us.

I wanted to post a poll about WDW Resort "towel animals"! :goodvibes

Have you received any?

If so, do you keep them and bring them home or leave them (we left ours as we did not know if we were supposed to take them or not, but they were cute)?

I was curious as to what everyone else does! :confused3

I know some people say it is OK, some say it is "recycled" washcloths that are used, some say CM's and "Mousekeeping" have told them to take them home, some have been told the exact opposite, and some simply have no desire to bring them home.

Where do you stand? :yay:

I've always just snapped a picture. I figured it wasn't my property and it would be ruined by the time I got home anyway.

We have kind of a funny story. We were getting off the Disney Wonder on the morning that the "no liquids" policy was announced! I just happened to turn on CNN as we were getting ready to go for breakfast. Now, our checked baggage was picked up the night before, so we knew we'd need to check another piece of luggage with all our toiletries. My 19 year old and I just freaked out; how were we going to keep all our bottles, etc. from leaking and spilling and banging into each other. We looked at the pile of towel animals and shrugged at each other. That's what we used to support and wrap all the toiletries. We got home, and I said, what am I supposed to do with all these little towels? Should I mail them back to Disney? :rotfl:

The funniest part was re-packing and organizing in the airport. What a day! It's certainly made for a funny story, but it was a very stressful way to end a vacation!

:goodvibes Gee, can you take them? :confused3 I agree with the pp a snapshot will do just fine. Interesting poll though!

A picture has always been fine for us. We see them as something that may again be a pleasant surprise for us on our next trip, not as a part of the trip that goes home with us.

DisFlan

I always take a pic of each one we get. I thought about taking them but what use are they once you get them back home? Just something else to clutter up the house in my opinion. Figured, in the end, it was best just to leave them to be given to the next guest(s).

I have always taken a picture, but left the towel animal in the room for the next guests. They are such an unexpected joy that I love to share it. Picture memories are all that I have room for at home

The poll is showing what I expected.

Most people do leave them behind. They are cute to find in your room... that's for sure, but what on earth could you do with them once home! :goodvibes

Our little butterfly was adorable, we never could figure out the other "critter", we were never sure what he was! ;)

I love the post where the towel animals were used to secure items while packing... too funny! :rotfl:

Thanks for doing the poll! :flower3:

Now that dd is older, we usually leave them just because we don't want to pack anything else. When she was younger, though, she'd take them home. Our mousekeeper told me they were her gift to us and we could take them.

Normally, we also take a pic and leave them for the next guest (especially the one they made one time that I thought was my mother in law!!!) The last time I stayed at the Poly, there were mousekeepers in the lobby giving towel animal/arrangement classes. It was just before Christmas and one of the mousekeepers made me an elephant and a wreath. She told me they were mine to take home. In that case, I did take them home but I think that was a special circumstance (I think they were getting rid of old towels!).

We're lucky and almost always get towel animals in our room. The last time we were at POFQ we got about a dozen in just 3 nights :rotfl:

Most of the time we leave them behind. I took 1 home from the Poly in July, a tiny bunny who's now sitting at my desk at work :) My mom took home a tiny tiny unidentified one from POFQ in December, it's on her nightstand.

Like others we were told by our housekeeper that we could take them home if we wanted to, so I don't see the harm.

We take them home. They travel well though....4,500 miles to Scotland and all have stayed in one piece :)

we've received some, but took a picture and left the towel animal behind

No I agree. I have heard that often Mousekeepers, CM's, or even some Managers have told people/insisted even that the TA are theirs to take! :goodvibes As that is the case there is absolutely nothing wrong with taking them, I was just curious as to how many people actually do!

The butterfly we got was adorable, we left it however as 1. I didn't know if we were/were not allowed at that time. and 2. I had no idea where it would go when we got home!

I like the fact that you display them! I am sure it seems like a little Disney magic everytime you look at it!

I wish we would have thought to take a picture of ours at least! Next time! :goodvibes

I should leave room in my suitcase one of these times so that I have room to bring home one! Usually I'm having a hard time getting in my stuff!!!

I have an adorable kitty from POFQ sitting on my dresser! As others have said, we were told by our mousekeeper to be sure to take our towel creations!

Here are 2 from our POFQ stay last April. I think we took 1 & left one:

Take a picture, it'll last longer. Plus I would have guilt by taking a hotel towel. Not my property, but I guess if housekeeping said it was o.k., then go for it. I've never taken mine. Just took a picture
