Towel animals/sculptures???

Just back (May 31) from 3 nights at the Poly (GV) and 6 nights at the CR (Tower, park view).

We didn't get any towel creations (but plenty of shampoo/soaps). Just wondering if they are still around - We had animals every day on our last two trips (2001 - POR, CR & BC).

Were too many people taking them home? Any ideas?

I don't know if too many people take them home or not, we never did. We have been to WDW many times and only received towel animals from mousekeeping at AKL. We also received them every day aboard the Disney Wonder and Magic.

They were certainly cute, and aboard ship they came with chocolate, but we never let the lack of them upset us. People report getting them from many different resorts. I think it all depends on the mood of the maid.

If you got "towel creations" every day on your past trips consider yourself lucky. We have been many times (see below) and I cannot even say that we have gotten one per trip never mind everyday.

The creations are based on who happens to be your housekeeper it is a little extra "magic" but the "towel creations" should never be expected. So far this year we have stayed a total of 10 nights at two different Disney resorts and only received one towel creation. We did not take it home with us.

We got 3 towels creatures at our stay at the BC last month. The first day we got one, but I left it where it was. When I moved it a couple of days later, we got another one. I moved that one and we got a third. Mousekeeping told us to take them home. We have them sitting on our bookcase.

I didn't realize you could take them home! I figured since they were made out of Disney's towels that they belonged to Disney.

I usually get a couple of towels items when I stay at CSR, though not every day (it's a big resort and I'm sure the animals take a lot of extra time). I'm always tickled when I do get them, but consier them 'extras' and not something that I expect. What I do expect from mousekeeping is a tidy room when I return from the parks, and I've always, without exception, gotten that.

We just stayed at WL and I overheard someone say they got towel animals one night. I tipped mousekeeping the first day we were there and asked for add'l towels, we never got the add'l towels and we never got an animal. I think it all depends on who you get as your mousekeeper. We have never ever had towel animals on any of our stays at WDW hotels.

We had a towel monkey that was hanging from the bedpost at Poly 2 weeks ago. We have also had them at WL.

When we stayed at CBR in May, there was one day that we had 2 towel animals...mousekeeping said to take them home so they are in my room ..very cute!

I think this totally depends on your maid we had them everyday of our trip and so did all of our neighbors(POFQ) you could see them on the window sills, but on another floor of the same building you would see none.

Stayed at WL May 23-May 29 had Diana our Mousekeeper the girls recieved eight towel creations she was off mid-week and she told the girls they where a gift from her to them. They may take them home.

See was always making us feel welcomed.

We were at the CR from May 31 thru June 6, and we got towel creatures on two different days. We left a tip for them everyday. We always had extra towels, plenty of shampoo and soap and a clean room as well!!! I didn't know you could take them home either!

We were at PO-R for 6 nights last month, tipped mousekeeping regularly and did not get one towel animal........There was even one day dh was not feeling well and went back to the room. Mousekeeping came while he was there so he left and went to the car to rest while she was there cleaning. She still did nothing out of the ordinary for us and there were several days that they forgot to leave coffee.

We got towel animals at the CBR 3 times, the WL, once and the Poly on 3 trips. We had new ones in our room every day at these resorts! Then the 4th and 5th times at the Poly we didn't receive any towel animals. The ones we used to get at the WL and the Poly were really elaborate and imaginative. DD loved them. We got so use to them that we were really disappointed when we didn't get any the last two trips. We figure that those two mouskeepers didn't know how to do them or were too busy.

Stayed at CBR in 1st week of January this year. Had towel animals every day!!! I guess we got lucky and had a happy mousekeeper!!

We were at POP in May. We ended up with 3 animals. DH and I talked to the housekeeper the day we left. I told her how much I appreciated the animals and what a wonderful job she had done all week.She told me to just take them home if I wanted. Needless to say, she got an extra special tip when we left.

Got a towel bird at Pop Century last week. Being an adult with no kids in the room, I never get towel animals, so this was a shock.

My bf and I have stayed at CBR twice and got towel creatures every day. They always have stickers on them and are really cute. On our this this past May, they even left a note toward the end of our stay saying "Thank you for the tips!!". I thought that was nice.

I think the towel animals are cute, but I don't expect them and I wouldn't be upset if I didn't get one. You can't expect every mousekeeper to know how to do them. -Steph
