Ok..I am reading a lot about Towel Animals and I know not everyone gets them, and no my vacation will not be ruined if I do not get one this trip.... :sunny:

This is our fist time on site and I have a basic question here that maybe some of you can answer for me please.

If you receive a Towel Animal can you keep it? Or is it the same as just receiving fresh towels and you would be stealing from the resort (which I would never do). I honestly do not know what the thinking is on this and could use some advice here..thanks for your help... :sunny:

We received towel animals only after we called housekeeping and asked if it might be possible. We said that we'd appreciate one. We did receive a couple after that. We took pictures, but never kept them. They are cute, but we felt no need to keep them. We also just went to Mexico and received towel animals every day. I don't know what we would with them once we got home. Enjoy! We love Disney!

I read somewhere on a DIS thread that some guests do infact keep them. I don't understand why but hey, to each his/her own.

We have received towel animals on our last two trips to the Polynesian. Both times we asked Mouskeeping if we could take one home and both time they said yes. So if you get one, just ask Mousekeeping and see what they say.

Just returned from CBR and received towel animals every day. Our housekeeper told us (insisted) that we take them home.

There was a stand in the food court area that were making the towel animals for guest, so that's an option.

Actually, the towel animals have gotten quite extravagant, they now have eyes, noses and special glitter stickers. You know exactly what your animal is.

We saw one room that was so cute, the housekeeper had obviously taken alot of time in that room, as the animals were hanging from the light fixtures and arranged very cute inside the blinds. It was so much fun coming back to the room each day to see what she left us.

Also, my room did not have kids.

Whew, I have said a mouthful. Hope this helps someone.

Yes you can take them home.
Our mousekeeper at the WL was insistent that we take them home (she makes really elaborate ones). But we didn't have room in our suitcase.
She said that taking them home has been approved by management.

I saw lots of towel animals at All Star Sports in windows of the 1st floor of the Hoops section. Do you have to ask for these? Do you have to tip a certain amout to get one?

Towl animals are like lots of other things at Disney. It is magic if you get one. It doesn't have anything to do with tipping.

Just as we were leaving our mousekeeper was coming in and DD was chatting her up. Our mousekeeper asked why we were leaving our towel animals??? DD said "because they don't belong to us" She then handed 2 to DD from the table, wished her a happy birthday and said she hoped she had a magical trip. Great end to a great trip.

I have gotten alot of these, and never taken them. for me...why wold I? I just take a picture of them.
but this trip a few months ago, I got home and emptied my suitcase and low and behold there was an animal in my suitcase! for me, it would be a dust collector. but the little girl who visits here from time to time saw it....and I gave it to her!

I do not see the problem with taken them, even thou I really do not

We asked a manager and were told they are to look at but not to take.
We were told the same thing a couple of years ago at the BC. Carmen, our housekeeper, left us some very extragavant creations, including a huge lobster and a large "Mickey." We enjoyed them during our stay and had fun with Carmen by trying to out-do her arrangements of these creations.

Towel animals are famous on cruises too. One night late in the cruise, the Cruise director asked for people to please give back all the towel animals because they were running short on towels. :rotfl:

Most of the time on cruises, you get a new one every night and over the course of a week, some people had a whole collection in their cabins. He even mentioned that someone had found a "towel" person in their cabin's bathroom (sitting on the potty) and it scared the beejeebers out of them!

We got towel animals different times at the WL, there is no way we were to take them.
The monkey was quite large but the biggest was an elephant, with pillows for the body. We would have taken all the bedding for one rooom if we were to keep all the animal that were made over our 10 day stay.

we were just at the WL two weeks ago and the mousekeeper told us that management had approved guests taking the towel animals with them.
as i said, we didn't since we didn't have room, but she said it had recently been approved....i can't imagine she would lie about something like that (she's a very well known mousekeeper at WL concierge and has been there for years)...

seriously, what is the big deal with the towel animals? Between Croc's shoes, towel animals and refillable mugs- there's no room left around here for anything else!

In the end we'll all just end up paying for these towel animals anyway because as the resorts need to replenish their towel supplies they'll just happily pass along the expense to us by raising the room rates!

Sometimes we get towel animals and sometimes we don't. I see they now sometimes have small ones premade on their carts that have stickers for eyes.
I think the best ones that we've gotten have been on the Disney cruise. It's always funny to come back to the cabin to see what creature you have for the day and what they're up to!
Princess doesn't seem to follow suit as we've never gotten any towel animals on their cruises.

We were at the CBR in May for 8 days and we received 3 towel animals. I thought they were so cute and they did put them in the window waiting for us to come back or on the bed with my ds stuffed Mickey. They are small so we did take them home and I put them in my bathroom's as a decoration.

Makes me smile when I see them and reminds me of what a happy time we had.

It never occured to me that you could take them! Still, the pictures that I take are enough for me, even if I had room, I'd still leave them behind.

I have heard that having stuffed Disney toys or other types of Disney toys laying on the bed or out in the open increases your chances of animals. We had several plush Mickey's that we brought (and we don't have kids! DFi said they need to come with us to visit their 'home') and had one our spare double bed at the Poly. We had animals every night and some were very elaborate.

When we were at the CBR last december, we received many, but the last day mousekeeping left my dd's an elaborate clown w/stickers, mousekeeping also left my dd's a cute note covered w/stickers telling them to take home the creations.
