Tours

We did the Welcome to Disneyland tour a few years ago, and I really enjoyed it. It's geared towards people who are new to DL, and it provides a great intro. We got to skip the line onto Pirates, Soarin' and a third ride I can't recall, and we got a couple more FastPasses and reserved seating for Aladdin, plus souvenir lanyards & pins (and an intro to pin trading - fun!) The guide walks you through DL & DCA and tells you a bit about the history and construction, but I remember most of the focus being on logistics (how to use fast passes, watching parades, etc.)

It was a wonderful way to start my first visit, and I would absolutely recommend it for other newbies. But I imagine anyone more seasoned might find it boring. But then again, for $25 it is great value to minimize your wait times and get some tips.

I haven't done the Walk in Walt's Footsteps, but I think it is focused on the history, with a look at Walt's vision and the classic rides of the 50s. I'm considering it for our upcoming visit, but I'm not sure what it will be like with the Railroad under refurbishment. Also, there is the new Disney's California Adventure tour. I like the idea of skipping the line for RSR & Soarin. But I'm not sure if either are worth the $109 (especially for me with the Canadian dollar being low). I'd be curious to hear what others think.
