Hi All,

I just went in to touringplans.com to finish my custom touring plan for one of the parks and noticed they have redone the way you put them together which is ok, but the way they print now is all different.

It doesn't show the menus for restaurants, or hidden mickey info, Park & Attraction Trivia, Things to know, locker areas, Lost & found, Stroller locations, Baby Center, ATM locations, times of parade, etc like it used to.
Anyone else Dislike this new setup?

:headache: Bummed I didn't print out all my touringplans before they switched..

Did you email them to let them know? If it's a bug, I'm sure they will do everything they can to fix it pronto.

They had posted on their site recently that they changed the touring plans layout...so it might not be a mistake. :(

Yea I just checked the blog and found this unfortunately..

"First, the sad news! We’re discontinuing the Trip Planner and “detailed” Touring Plans features (note: we’re not removing touring plans, just the essay-length detailed plans). These were really hard decisions to make, as they’ve long been a part of the TouringPlans.com family of products. However, both required a lot of upkeep, support, and investment just to keep running. The time we’ll save on these will be refocused into working on the Crowd Calendar, Touring Plans, and Lines products. You’ll have until October 10th, 2011 to access the Trip Planner and the Detailed Plans and print out any information you want to save."

Wish they would have kept some of the info in the plans...

So can you not access the detailed plans now? Sorry, I could check myself but I'm too lazy now :lmao: The quote above, which I assume you pasted straight from the TP website says you can access and print them until October 2011. I printed some this morning, but TBH I just did the simple ones so I never even noticed the detailed option wasn't there.

if anyone finds a way to print the detailed ones please let me know. i just bought a subscription LAST WEEK! because it looked so awesome and now there is a lot missing :guilty:

I think there's some confusion about what constitutes a "detailed touring plan."

The detailed plans are still available for reading and printing, and should remain so until October, as the blog post indicated.

What the OP wants are the REGULAR plans, which used to print in a certain way. You would generate a touring plan for the date you were interested in, and when it would be ready for printing it would contain 'extra' information, such as park hours, weather information, etc. These are NOT the same thing as the detailed touring plans!

So the blog post about detailed touring plans going away is not applicable to the OP's question.

Apparently there was some change, intentional or not, to the way REGULAR touring plans are generated, and now they don't contain the 'extra' info. This may be a mistake, or it may be another permanent change. So it's worth asking Len Testa about.

This was the responce I received from Henry at TP

"Hey Todd,

We did make some changes to the touring plans interface, and are actually in the process of redoing it one more time. Really appreciate the feedback, however!

Best,
-Henry"

Anyhoo I guess they are not bringing back any of the info previously included in the plans..

Oh, I really hope they fix the touring plans layout (the regular ones). It is tiny print with lots of blank white space. I like the more colorful layout better. Also the parade and fireworks times aren't on there! The park hours, and avg temps are still there as well as the new info on overall resort crowd level and individual park levels.

Hey folks,

Send an email to the touringplans.com webmaster if there are specific features on the touring plans, such as weather and things to know, that are important to you. We're trying to strike a balance between "useful stuff" and "information overload." Hearing directly from y'all is the best way to do that.

Regarding the hidden Mickeys and park trivia, I don't think those will be in the next revision of the touring plans. Those came directly from Steve Barrett's and Lou Mongello's books, which Steve, Lou and their publisher graciously let us use for free, for many years. The publisher has now licensed those works for mobile apps, and we'd be stepping on their toes by continuing to use them. The next time those licenses are up for bid, however, we'll take a look at it.

Thanks!

Len
