We will go to WDW without our grown children
We, DH & DW, will be in our early 60's

We are generally in good health and can walk 3 to 4 miles a day without any trouble.
We do not do Mt. Everest or Tower of Terror, even though DH loves Splash Mt.

AK may be too hot for us - even if we travel in late March or early April, depending on Easter (to avoid the weeks before or after it

What touring plan do you suggest?

Thank You

You will be fine. My mother is 83 and walks the parks. We stop and see a show or sit on a bench with a snack every once in a while.

We arrive at rope drop when the day is at its coolest and the lines are at their shortest.

If we plan to see night time shows, we go back to the resort in the early afternoon, we reserve a table service dinner in or near the park we plan to visit that night.

If we aren't taking in fireworks, we take respite at a nice table service lunch, and then power through until we are ready to call it a day.

I'm 63 and don't do a lot of walking outside of when I'm at WDW and I have no problems at all even though I walk a lot more than 3-4 miles a day while I'm there. I take my time and just wander around. I take frequent breaks to rest and people watch. I did fine the end of May this year even when it was hot and I don't usually do well in heat. When you take frequent breaks, it doesn't even feel like you're walking so much more than normal. You'll do fine.

I'm knocking on the door of 60 (had my 59th birthday in April) and have never had any problems walking around the parks. My mother did it into her late 60s until her Lupus no longer allowed her to stand for long times. There are plenty of places to stop and sit and rest. Because I go often, I tend to spend most of my time in the parks just enjoying the place, I do ride rides but not as many as I did in the past. I just get something to drink and sit and look at all the details.

What are you looking for? I've gone with my parents who are in their late 60s. Aside from heat issues, AK and DHS can be pretty much done in a day without too much walking (DHS moreso these days). I usually plan 2 days for MK because of all the attractions and such so we can stroll the park then spend the hotter afternoon at the pool. Epcot is the only real trouble maker as it requries a lot of walking.

Mainly, walk at your own pace and take frequent stops if you need to or get into the AC and you'll be fine.

We do Epcot in 2 days when possible.

Day 1, we do the Soarin side of future world. We take the boat from Future world to Morocco. We do from Japan to Canada. Sometimes we exit at the International Gateway and take the boat to the Hollywood Studio bus. This is time consuming, but leisurely. We stopped being commandos a long time ago.

Day 2 is Test Track side of FW, Boat to Germany and American Adventure to Mexico

I think you'll be fine. We are able to walk much more at WDW than we do at home. The worst thing for my feet seems to be the standing - waiting for a bus, a show, etc.

I agree that taking the boat at Epcot can save some steps, as long as you aren't standing for 20 minutes waiting for it! In that time you could have walked leisurely around the WS to where the boat docks which, for me anyway, is actually easier on my feet than the wait would have been.

I think AK being the hottest park is a myth. It has a lot of trees compared to the others. Parts of MK and definitely Epcot seem to be the hottest. Some of DHS is pretty hot too. DHS involves more walking around now that the lane for Toy Story is blocked off.

My husband is 74 and has mobility and balance issues. We log well over 6 miles a day and he is fine. In fact one reason we go often is because it gets him moving! We stop often, never rush to get anywhere, and stay hydrated.
