Does Touring Plans still fax, email or what with room request you put in? This service has seemed to work for (me) well in the past, with the exception of this past January. Anyone know what the deal is now or are they doing if different by chance? Thanks.

Yes they are still offering it to paid memberships. It worked for us in December 2020, exact room even. Tell you in 3 days if it still works!

Even though we've had a Touring Plans membership since 2013, we've never used the room request function. I submitted a request for our trip next week and I'm hoping they'll honor it!

The service still works to the extent that they still submit your request. Whether you get the room you were hoping for is (and always has been) beyond their control.
Absolutely.

We used it in March for CBR. Got the exact room I put on the request. So it's still working.

My sister just tried it. She wanted Jamaica 41 which is the closest to the main skyliner. She got Aruba 56. She was so disappointed at first, but then it ended up being wonderful. They were literally right beside the Riviera skyliner and they walked to the Rivera for QS meals which are so much better than CBR. So, she didn’t get what she requested, but she got something better! I will be there in a week, so I will see if I get my requests. I have heard it is harder right now to get your request because they are short staffed for cleaning and it takes longer for rooms to be ready.

Got my notifier this week that our room request was sent in! Will see what happens :)
So far, we are 1 for 2 this year (first time using TP). The one we didn't get was a semi-last-minute reservation at Contemporary and only for 1 night though. Got a great room for our request at CSR.

Also all resorts have an unspecified number of rooms out of service right now. So you may request a room that cannot be rented at all, temporarily.

We are 2 for 3. FWIW, both successful requests were pre-covid. One of those was at AKL we got the exact room requested. One was at POP and we were about 3 doors down from our request. Our 1 unsuccessful attempt was post-covid at POP, where we were put 3 buildings away.

We use it on most trips and have found it to work well. I haven’t requested a room #, but usually a range of floors and view. It did not work once at BLT, but we were visiting in slow season and were able to switch rooms.

I've used room request twice and we've gotten the general area we requested, but not the exact room. I wonder: does a Touring Plans room request work better if you go ahead and do the online check-in at 30 days out? Does a room request sent before you check-in not get logged or something? I don't know why but I always wait until maybe a week out to actually check in and I know Touring Plans will send your request at exactly 30 days out (unless you request it after that of course).

I arrive on Thursday. I used the touring plans one, but I also called Disney to add it to my reservation. I guess if I get it, I won’t know which one worked.

First time we tried it we got nothing close to what we requested. We wanted a preferred room at CBR near the pool on the first floor. Ended up way over in one of the outbuildings at Grand Floridian on the third floor. Not that we were complaining necessarily, but certainly not the room we requested!

I used it on the last trip and I was given a room near the room I requested. Like, literally across the outside sidewalk from it. Turned out being better than what I requested because it was next to the outside door and not a terrible walk from the tucked away "other" Cars area parking lot at AoA. Was able to snag a nice parking spot for the car and a relatively short walk with my luggage to my room.
Thanks for the reminder, I need to put in a request for another one.

They’re good if you’re not using purchased DVC points: their requests are either ignored or don’t get to the people who do DVC booking. I sent a request in via the owner for something 2 weeks ago (the agencies never tel you a room request is an option, you gotta ask) and I’m hoping it works.
