We are heading to DLR on October 7 for a Sunday afternoon - Thursday morning visit. So probably 3.5 days in the parks. We have an infant and a toddler, and will have various grandparents joining us for different parts of our trip. We are staying at the GC Hotel with the amazing Gay Days rates. I never would have known about that rate w/o learning from all of you and never could have afforded regular rates at the GC, so THANK YOU!

I have a breakfast at the Plaza Inn and a lunch at Ariel's scheduled. Husband and I will probably do a dinner at Napa Rose.

What about a touring plan or ridemax? I am a big "planner" but I am worried that with a 3.5 year old in tow that sticking to a real schedule isn't realistic. Also with grandparents - that they will buck the system? And if I should really do one, which one? I feel like I ahve the whole fast pass thing down, but do I need more than that?

We are bringing a double stroller and will have snacks and stuff in the hotel. We plan to take afternoon breaks to nap and swim. I ordered a photopass+.

Anything else I should be thinking about or doing right now? Thoughts on the touring plans?

I can't thank you enough for the fabulous ideas and info I have gotten from reading this forum.

With your young children that will of course limit what you ride. I can't imagine you will need a touring plan especially if you get to the parks early. Maybe on Monday because of the holiday.

If you really want one I think RM is the better one for you because you can choose your rides and arrival time.

Make good use of the photo pass. First time we got one as a family we were clueless. We know know to have pictures taken everywhere. Even if you had pictures taken in front of the castle the day before go for it and get some each day. Each session will be a bit different. Remember there are some photo spots where the Photo cast member can style you certain ways with the idea you are going to add tinkerbell to the picture. In this one they will have you stand with hands cupped in front of you. If I remember correct tinker is added by the park before you get the cd.

Each set of adults had a card to use for getting pictures taken. This is great so my husband and I could have pictures taken while the kids and grandkids were at toon town meeting Mickey and getting pictures with him.

Make sure you take a picture /and or write down the number of the photopass card in case it is lost. This gives you a number to use to actually get your pictures all added to the one cd.

IMO having photopass is a wonderful addition to visiting DL. Should you really not want to pack a camera around you still get some wonderful pitures with characters and of icon touring locations. We did not go to any character meet and greets that did not have 2 or more photo pass cast members taking pictures there.

Have a wonderful time. My best advice to you all is walk slow, take toddler steps, know little ones at times get over stimulated so a meltdown or two can be expected. Take naps they are good for the little ones and the grandparents. Funny how we start out in life hating naps but end up in our older years loving those afternoon fresh -me- ups.

There is face painting for kids and adults alike near the matterhorn at DL and one or two at DCA. This is wonderful for a child. My gand son 7 and grand daughter 4 loved having their face painted. They did it in morning and it lasted all day. I understand that the artists will even touch it up same day if for some reason it needed to be. The kids' did not smear and actually needed a shower to get all off.

Having grandparents to help is wonderful. I think that is why my husband and I get to go. We were always glad to watch the kids so my daughter and in-in-law could go have dinner alone. I think they to are going to do napa rose this trip.

Grand daughter 4 loved Big thunder mountian railroad and matterhorn ride. I was surprised when my daughter actually let Lilly ride both of those. Lilly loved matterhorn and would have spent all day riding that if she could have. I guess you never know what kids will like. Lilly did hate space mountian-- yes her mom let her do that one to -- sigh. Thank goodness she was to short for tower of terror. Since the ride config is different now on Matterhron not sure if Lilly will get to ride this year. Son-in-law felt better when the kids could sit between their legs so they could keep hold of the kids. Now the kids would have to sit in own seat and not sure if a safety bar would be snug enough.

Have fun

I haven't read through this entire thread, but also take pics of the back of your park tickets. On out last trip, on our last day, my DH lost his ticket somewhere in DCA, we were on our way to DL, and in the esplanade, when we discovered it. (We think that he lost it when pulling out the photo pass to hand.to the photographer.) Between my picture and ticket, they were able to reissue our ticket. (We also had the souvenir ticket from AAA, so he got his Mater ticket back!)

Thanks for your input! Love the tips about the photopass+. Any other thoughts about Ridemax for our group? Or other suggestions?
