Touring plan help- Toontown morning madness and fantasyland

We are travelling with a 2 year old, so plan on spending a couple hours in toontown. We have MM and Toontown Morning madness, but ridemax doesn't seem to account for if you have either. This is in 2 weeks, 8-midnight opening. I've heard skip Toontown on morning madness days, but we have that. Would going at 8:30 be helpful, or should be there right away in order to get any benefit? I'm thinking DS will really want to do Dumbo, but will be quite anxious to meet Mickey and understand Peter Pan and Dumbo are what you need to get done right away. (we'll see after dinner with Goofy, if seeing Mickey is as important first thing)

In the park 3 full days, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. We don't plan on riding every ride, and plan on a more 'relaxed' Disney trip.

Monday (8 am opening, Toontown early opening)
Peter Pan
Dumbo
As many other FL rides until 8:30 am
8:30 AM - Mickey's House
8:50 AM - Minnie' House
9 AM- Explore boat, fountains, other interesting things (for 2 year old who loves to climb) Roger Rabbit FP.- rest as needed
9:30/10:30 back to FL.

Tuesday (MM) Repeat FL favorites, do other rides on list. Maybe head to DCA at 9. Probably won't be able to get there until 7:30 AM:

Wednesday, repeat or rides we didn't get to already. Our 'must" while we are there are POTC, Winnie the Pooh, Splash (single rider or FP) Jungle Cruise, Tom Sawyer's Island, the train, Autopia, Space MTN (will do with FP Tuesday afternoon), Indiana Jones, ITSM, carrousel, Peter Pan, Dumbo, Mad Tea Party), Soarin, Haunted Mansion. The rest we get done will just be 'bonus'

i know to grab fast passes, and will do that as necessary/possible. (ie. Autopia early on, probably have someone run out while DS is playing) I imagine we'll do single rider when possible, and will have 2 FP for staying onsite.

We'll be out of the park from 12-4 and 8-midnight. (ie. only in park 8-noon, 4-8 pm)

So, with that long spiele- is 8:30 am best for Toontown, or is it better to wait in 30 minute lines at 9 am? (or some later time?- ie. 10 am.?)

When we did TTMM, you needed to be in TT or in line (if they have delayed opening its gates) as soon as possible. Otherwise you were WAY behind the stroller brigade, and you were going to be in lines. Even though going past FL to just get in feels weird with a little kid, keep your eyes on the prize, and the prize is being in TT for an hour without as many people as there will be on other days.

The gates should open before 8:30, and the rides are open I believe. The only thing they delay is the opening ceremony, to give people a chance to get through the park.

So I personally wouldn't do Fantasyland and then TTMM, I'd just head straight to TT.


Something to know, to prepare yourselves for...Disneyland likes to break up lines and clumps of people. So in the mornings, as you're trying to rush in and get to what you want to do first, they are absolutely evil, and often will have Mickey and Minnie in the City Hall area, catching those people with kids who won't move from the spot until they meet M or M.

You don't want to get caught in that either on your TTMM day or your MM day! So be prepared for that...put the little on in the stroller or carry him and just keep on MOVING. Let the others get stuck there while you go get "their" spots in line or on rides.

So are you saying you want to ride Peter Pan on both days? If you are not at Toontown Morning Madness when it begins, you will miss the ceremony and the characters and stuff.

If you want to do the Toontown Morning Madness, I would go to it first and spend time in that area. You can ride the rides and meet the characters before it gets busy in that area. Then I would move along to your other priorities when you are done. You can take a glance at Fantasyland when you are done and make a decision about what you are willing to wait for.

On Tuesday, I would go to Magic Morning and spend as much time in Fantasyland as you need. Ride Peter Pan and Dumbo and Toad, etc.

Then on Wednesday, you would be on equal footing with others, since there is no MM. You could conceivably ride Peter Pan and Dumbo again if you walked with purpose to Fantasyland.

If you look at the tips in Ridemax, it talks about MM and Toontown Morning Madness and how to work them both into a ridemax plan. It seems like the general thought is that if you weren't participating in Toontown Morning Madness, then it would be a good idea to avoid that and visit it on another day.

If you are planning on participating, though, it mentioned to delay your ridemax plan starting time by an hour and visit morning madness during that time (outside of your "official" ridemax plan). I think it also gave a recommended ride/attraction order of:

Minnie's House
Mickey's House
Gadget's Go-Coaster
Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin

I'm listing that from memory, though, so I could be off on this. As far as the other attractions in toon-town (Donald's Boat/etc.), they are more like play areas and not so much attractions you have to wait in line for. Those can be worked in at other times.


As far as magic morning is concerned, Ridemax also gives a preferred ride order if you are participating (it also recommends to avoid FL on MM days if you are not participating). I don't remember the exact ride order, but I know it is basically the same as the order that others on this site have recommended themselves (Peter Pan, Dumbo, Alice, Tea Cups/Mr. Toad).


IMO, the best option to experience FL and TT would be to utilize TT Morning Madness on Monday Morning at park opening (skipping FL for at least the morning) and plan on starting your RM plan at 9:00 (instead of the 8:00 park opening). If you want to ride any FL rides that day, place them in your RM plan and see where they fall out - but the focus of FL will be on Tuesday.

On Tuesday I would really try and get to MM when it opens. You will be able to ride most all the FL rides before the park "officially" opens at 8:00, and then you can move on to the other areas of the park that you want to experience. If you do this, you should be able to not only get all of FL done that morning, you should also be able to grab a couple FP's and ride a few other rides before heading over to DCA for rope drop.

Great. I didn't see that in ridemax. (just avoid Toontown on early entry days if you don't have it). I'll change the ridemax start time and go from there.

Now, if we can just jog through Disney without DS tantruming or struggling to get out of the stroller because he wanted to do something...(or not seeing a Mickey/minnie or other character out front).

Just a ditto that if you can swing it, be there at 6:45 on Tuesday for MM.

We completely ignored FL on Monday on our recent stay, and by getting there early on Tuesday, we hit every single FL ride in about 40 minutes with absolutely zero lines.

(We were in the first dozen or so riders on Peter Pan, first cycle of Dumbo, then Alice, then second or third cycle of Teacups, Mr. Toad because the carousel was in motion, then carousel, finally Snow White and Pinocchio.)

Friends of ours who arrived at 7:30 or so were only able to get three rides in before the 8:00 AM main gate crowd arrived because by 7:40 or so there are lines in FL during MM.

It's worth leaving the park early Monday night in order to get enough sleep to be there early on Tuesday, IMHO.
