While I am at WDW in May 2005, I want to take a look at a couple of the other DVC properties... how do I set up a tour?

Thanks!!

DVC will not give you a formal tour of any resort other than Saratoga Springs because they are not actively selling points at any of the other resorts. If you want to see a room, you can inquire at the front desk of the resort. If they have a villa that has not yet been occupied for the night, and it's not a particularly busy day, a CM from front desk will usually take you there and give you a few minutes to look around.

I'm sure that the Guides would be happy to answer questions about other resorts, but they just aren't equipped to take you on a tour throughout the Disney World complex.

Thank you for getting back to me.. I will contact the front desk of the resorts before I show up.

I would also think they have models of the various resort rooms at Saratoga Springs.

When the sales center was on Boardwalk they had models of the rooms. So, I would suspect they have something similar at the SSR sales center, although I may be wrong.

If you get a chance, see if someone would show you a 2-bedroom villa over at Old Key West. Very impressive. ::yes::

No, they do not have model rooms for the other resorts at SSR. Those rooms at the Boardwalk were constructed for touring purposes as each resort was built. I think it's pretty easy to understand why they chose not to waste 5000+ square feet replicating model rooms for resorts which are not being sold.

All of that space at BWV is now being converted into more guest rooms.

At SSR, they don't even have dedicated model rooms right at the sales center. Instead they have two actual guest rooms--a Grand Villa and a lockoff Two Bedroom--which are permanently reserved for touring purposes. The Guides have golf carts which are used to ferry potential members over for the tour.

DH and I bought into SSR while we were on the DCL this past July. After our cruise, we went to Disney for a few days. One afternoon, while DH and DS were napping, my friend that had traveled with us and I went to several different DVC resorts and asked to tour the different rooms. Each and every time, the CMs were pleasant and accommendating. We toured the SSR, BWV and VWL. I fell in love with BWV. DH, my friend and I met a fellow disser that was kind enough to share her Illuminations cruise with us (thanks Jen!) and while we were there waiting for the boat and then afterwards, DH fell in love with BWV!

We came home, cancelled the SSR contract (not that there's ANYTHING at all wrong with SSR we just preferred BWV for our tastes!) and bought BWV resale! Not only did we get into a resort we love but for just a few $$ more, we got 100 more points!

So, yes, if they have rooms available, they will be very sweet to show you around.

... And 12 less years to boot!

GREAT NEWS MDonley... it's always much better to buy where you want not to settle for what they are selling at the time. We purchased at Wilderness Lodge and I love that resort bigtime, but we are now looking at purchasing a BWV resale to add to our collection.

I agree with Bracho - I'll just have to find something else to do between the ages of 80 and 92.;)

I have no problem with having 12 less years. I got into the home resort that I wanted. Not to mention, I saved about $6500. I will be 80 years old by then. During the next 38 years, my children and grandchildren with have plenty of time to enjoy the Disney experience! After that, they're on their own!;)
