Tour guide says 1st week in November.....

I am reading a Disney tour guide and it says to avoid the first week in November. Why would they say this? Is there something special going on that the crowd levels will be high then?

Anyone with experience with this time of year?

Jersey week - Schools in NJ are off for teacher convention the first Thur/Fri of the month. A lot of people take the whole week off, which i'm considering doing next year - - Oh, and I also think the Food and Wine festival is going on at Epcot as well.

Yes, it's "Jersey Week," and we are going for the fourth time. Not sure why they say not to go, it's always been very pleasant with short lines! With the exception of Soarin' & TT, we never wait very long for anything, & can usually get into restaurants easily. Although this year with free dining...who knows.

Not just Jerseyans filling the parks that particular week! Many states have days off that week for a fall break, as my nephew in North Carolina did. That week in November also usually coincides with Veteran's Day Weekend, where lots of kids everywhere have a long weekend. So it makes a great time to plan a vacation since not many days of school will be missed. So it can be a busy time overall (especially the Fri-Sat-Sun of Veteran's Day Weekend).

There are some people who simply don't like Jerseyans and will avoid for that reason alone.

Even so, I been there during that week, and it wasn't bad at all, with normal park planning. And everyone I met was from Michigan!

We went during that time year before last. I didn't find the crowds that bad at all. The longest wait we had was maybe 30 or 40 minutes but that was rare. We really enjoyed ourselves.
