We are leaving tomorrow with DS(15) and DSF(15) for a much deserved vacation. My DH and DS(2) will also be going. The teens have had a rough year. They're good boys, good grades, working on a farm for the summer..... they had a friend killed this year in a bus accident and another friend took his own life. Well,
last night another friend was killed in a car accident. It has really brought them down at a time when I was hoping they would be excited. Please wish pixie dust and fast emotional healing on these boys. We're still going when we planned. I've ordered flowers and hope the other kid's family will understand. It's just hard to try and be happy when all this sadness has happened, but I truly hope that Disney can take them away from it for a while.

My grandmother always said bad things happen in threes so maybe this will be the end of bad news. I will keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers and I really hope Disney can put a smile on their face. God Bless!

That is so sad :( I have a 15 year old DD and can only imagine how you and your family must feel. Prayers and pixie dust to you and your family. I hope Disney will lift your spirits.

Sending prayers - my DDs each lost 2 friends in auto accidents within 6 months of each other when they were 15 & 17 - neither of them would drive or get their licenses until 19 - it was a very hard time for them. I'm glad that you are focusing on family time and sticking with your plans - being with your family is very healing - Hope you can have some laughs amidst the tears.

Aw man... that's rough. :( I still remember (at the ripe old age of almost 34) losing a friend while a teen. Can't imagine losing THREE in that close of a time frame even! :(

I hope the trip will bring their spirits up and take their minds off this atleast for a little while.

wow, what a tough year for them. They will be grieving quite a bit. And maybe feeling guilty about being at WDW. Watch out for signs that they might need to talk, let them know it is ok to go on and live, and enjoy themselves. I don't really know what else to say,:( Hope that you all have a nice vacation, one filled with time spent enjoying each other.

How very tragic and so difficult for teens (or anyone) to deal with. Perhaps letting them know that sometimes going on with our lives can be a way of honoring those we've lost may help them. It can be difficult not to feel guilty for enjoying things during circumstances like yours, it's important to try and remember that friends or family that we have lost would want us to go on with our lives.
I hope that they're able to find some enjoyment in your trip.
