DH and I are taking our first trip to Disney in October. We are taking our 2 DS's age 2 and 4. My DS4 loves A Bugs Life. I was told make sure I see It's Tough be a Bug. Now I'm having second thoughts. What are your opinions on this for a 2 year old and 4 year old? Too scary? Too intense? These are things I've read. Opinions appreciated. Thanks! :D

Have them sit on your lap if you are worried. tell them it will be loud and sometimes dark but it is not real. If you need to you can cover the little ones eyes and talk to him if he gets scared.

You will get a range of opinions but if they can handle loud and sometimes dark they willl be fine.

Would've been too tense for me if I were 2. As for your four year old, it's a bit more intense than "A Bug's Life".

Just to be sure, sit them on your laps. The effects will not be as 'intense'. Other than that, it all depends: are they afraid of bugs or the dark? Can they handle loud noises?

Note that if they take off the 3D glasses it is less 'frightening'.

I personally think that since your 2 YO will sit on your lap and probably won't be able to keep his glasses on, he'll be OK (again, as long as he has no problem with the dark or loud noises).

Every child is different (and you know your DSs), but in our case, our DD did the attraction when she was 9 months old, then 3 1/2, and she was fine both times.

Have fun!

My 2 yr old and 5 yr old had no problem. As a matter of fact we were disappointed that we had avoided this attraction on previous trips since our 5 yr old liked it so much. I had always heard it was too intense also and we'd never tried it. My 5 yr old is also a big fan of Bug's Life and even loves Hopper. This helped out greatly in the show because he was familiar with all the characters and wasn't scared at all. The 2 yr old sat in my lap and didn't wear the glasses. I did kind of shield her face at times when I knew a puff of air might blow in her face and startle her but she was fine. I think we did the attraction 3 or 4 times in all.

Hope this helps some!

Kelly

I also agree with previous posters to keep them on your lap and take the glasses off.

We just got back and we did it. I loved it but my son who is 6 was scared to death, he had seen the movie, but this still scared him, I should've paid attention to the warnings because my son is VERY skittish. If I werent sure I would skip it if I were you. There always be a next time.

My DD did very well through it at 2 1/2. She kept the glasses on and sat in her dad's lap. At 4 1/2 she sat in her own set and still loved it. If they are use to watching movies at theatres, they "should" be ok with the glasses off (or maybe on?)and in an adults lap.

If you take your children into see it, please do me one favor. If they become terrified and begin crying, PLEASE take them out. I was there when a young boy, possibly 4, was just screaming and crying. The mother refused to take him out of the show. What upset me so much, was not the screaming and crying. But the fact that here sits a terrified child, and the mother forces him to stay. :(

Thanks for the opinions. I think we will do it and they will sit on our laps. They can try the glasses if they want. If they are scared we will get up and leave. I wouldn't put them through that.
