Hello all,

Here is my toughest question:

The setup - a suprise anniversary weekend for the DW...
No passes....
Location - uncertain, our Home resort Boardwalk... or SSR :teleport:

I figure with SSR i could get her a spa package and enjoy DD, and the fireworks. With BW we do enjoy the BW at night...

THe more I thik I am leaning toward SSR, maybe a round of golf for me..... :smooth:

any thoughts on best spot to watch Fireworks at Pleasure Island on site or studio rooms with a view of them......

Thanks
Tom

Request a Downtown Disney view. We had a great view from our balcony in December, and many, many rooms have excellent views of DD. There also is a fireworks viewing platform right along the water with a handful of wooden rocking chairs available. Just be warned that the fireworks are only about 30 seconds long. Personally, I thought it was quite a nice display--but don't expect it to be Wishes, jr.

Thank you so much for the input.

This will be our first time going down without plans to go to the parks.... has anyone else had good experiences doing this? I know there is much to do, but it does seem weird....

I would do SSR as well. I think it would be really hard to be "SO close" to Epcot, and all that wonderful dining, and not have tickets to go. I think at SSR you will find more to "distract" you (with the spa, and DTD).

Have fun!!

I would agree with SSR. It is a lovely resort. Haven't stayed there but have toured it, including the rooms. They are quite nicely appointed.

Spa day, golf, zipping back & forth to DTD all seem good. If you're not going to get park passes, then best to stay a little farther away from the parks, so you won't be tempted.

Remember, there's also the water parks and mini-golf to enjoy, which are more nominally-priced than a day at a park.

It doesn't look like you've stayed at VWL yet. What a beautiful serene setting. And so private and wooded and romantic in my opinion. I don't know if this is your deal but we sure love the place!

Well, our 7 day hopper with 4 options has now lasted us four trips to WDW. Those trips ranging from 4 to 7 nights each. My point is that we often spend our time at the pool, or walking around DTD, visiting the different resorts, etc. The parks believe it or not, are not the main reason we go to WDW! We like the atmosphere, the people, the quality, etc. You'll do fine with out passes!
