...Does anybody want to hazard a guess what The Passions final number will be ? It's at 160 mil on day 9. RotK was at 170 on day nine, but it's day 9 was Christmas.

I'm guessing 300 by Easter.

Easter is 5 weeks away so my guess is it will cap 300 mil. I can't even hazard a total right now. This movie is off the charts!

I don't see it gaining the repeat viewership which catapults a film into the top grossing category but it's pulling other people into theatres who aren't movie goers. That may be enough of a counterbalance to beat RoTK afterall.

So many are curious to see this film. Some for the theme, others for the content. The negative publicity certainly garnered mass attention. The buzz is everywhere.

One things for sure - Mel Gibson is raking in bigtime!

I also think the 300 million figure sounds right. Which is almost unbelievable for a religious film that is spoken in foreign languages with subtitles that is also r-rated.
As for Mel, its great to see someone willing to put his money where his beliefs are and bankroll a movie hollywood wanted nothing to do with and the hollywood power structure(including disney)did everything they could do to scuttle the movie. Its easy for hollywood stars to get a big paycheck and then preach, but its a big difference when ones uses his OWN money to bankroll a project they believe in.
As an aside, its a excellant movie and well worth seeing more than once!!! A very moving movie!!

It's at 264 after 19 days. RotK was at 290 and it ran over the entire Christmas/New Year holiday. The Passion should hit 300 by the end of next week and I imagine it will get a boost over the Easter holiday.

The best estimates are now that it come close to, if not top $400 million in the U.S. And there are whispers of several organizations planning "beat Titanic" campaigns to keep the repeat business up. It's unknown if this is real, our just the usual Hollywood paranoia again.

it hasn't fully opened all over central and south america yet right? When it does that will boost it alot.

I don't think it will beat titanics numbers which i was hoping ROTK would have done darnit.

I think it'll reach 350

I would guess it will top out somewhere between 350 mill. to 375 million and just fall a little behind ROTK, which is unheard of for a r-rated movie.
And from what i haved read it doesnt open up in Latin America for 2 to 3 weeks.

It is opening at different times in different countries in Europe, these dates i found on boxoffice.com
March 12-Ireland
March 26-UK
April 7-Italy
