My family and I are planning a trip to Universal 12/22- 12/27. We bought our admission tickets months ago through Expedia. We booked our room at RPR this evening. I JUST started reading about the Entertainment book discounts. We bought the darn book but never looked at it.:sad2:

My tickets through Expedia are non-transferable and seem to be completely non-refundable as well. I assume that if we use the Entertainment book coupon for the room and tickets that those tickets would be non-transferable as well.

Ugh! I hate that I didn't look around sooner! Does anyone see an out for us here?

Don't worry. Maybe someone can correct me if I am wrong, but I do not believe the Universal hotels offer the entertainment rate any more. They do offer a AAA rate, and APH (annual pass holder) rate, and a FLA (FL resident) rate.

The entertainment rate does not give you as good a deal as the other offers out there. It gives 10% off rack rate or something like that and is not always available. You can get a much better deal using AAA. Give Loews a call and see what they can offer you.

It is also very rare that you can get a room and ticket deal that is cheaper than buying them seperately at discounts. So you probably have actually saved yourself money by not using the entertainment rate deal.

What kind of park tickets did you get and what did you pay for them?

Did you also book your room through Expedia? What rate did you pay? Don't forget to check the Date/Rate thread that's a sticky on this board.

This would help us tell you if you got a bum deal or not.

We have the 2-Park Unlimited tickets as advertised above for $85.99 each.

Our room rate for RPR is $319 per night. We did book that through Loews, as Expedia demands payment in full. The price was the same in both places.

Did you check the AAA price?

I don't think you've done anything wrong. When you buy stay and play tickets for that long, you usually end up getting overcharged for the tickets.

Thank you for encouraging me to look further! When I looked into the Entertainment Book promo, I found that the hotel price is the same and tickets are $15 more (total), and then they take $50 off that price. It is certainly not the savings I thought I had lost!

I feel SO much better! LOL! I will look into the AAA rates.

Thanks again!

And remember that Christmas is a long way off and rates may change. If they do, call the hotel and get your rate changed. MAKE SURE you have them send you an email of your new rate and bring that along with you just in case.

AAA rates may not even be in the system for then yet.

Well, I just looked at AAA and so far, the total is $300 more than the Loews rate.

The problem with planning so far out is that I have plenty of time to drive myself crazy over it! I'll keep an eye on the prices and see if a deal pops up.

AAA should never be more expensive, so I imagine rates will go down.
