It had been a very long day at Epcot and we were all tired, hot and cranky. We had several sets of fastpasses, but just no energy to use them all. We headed over to Test Track to use one set and decided to hand the rest out to other guests. We handed out 6 passes to soarin, 6 to test track, and another 6 that were good for any ride in the park (we had issues with Soarin that day and also received some in a Magical Moment by a nice Dream Team member named Nancy). We had a tough time handing out a remaining single Test Track pass, so I took it over to a cast member (Omar) and asked him if he would be so kind to give it to someone who appeared to be heading into the standby line alone.
Off we went to ride our final ride of the night and head back to the hotel for a much needed early night in. I should mention that Test Track is my DS's favorite ride and we had already rode it twice that day. Anyway, as the ride was finishing up, he asked if he could ride it again. I explained to him that we had handed out our fastpasses to other people and we were going back to the room. He was a little disappointed, but was ok with it. Anyway. Before we even had a chance to unbuckle, a cast member (Charles) kneeled down beside our car and asked us to unbuckle and the buckle our seatbelts again. He explained that that told the computer that the car had switched riders and would we like to ride again. We said certainly and off we went! When that ride was over (boy were we excited to have gotten to ride it twice in a row..the standby line was 45+ minutes long) Charles met us after we got out of the car. We also saw Omar smiling at us and we waved to him. Charles asked us how we enjoyed our rides, and we thanked him up one side and down the other and told him that was incredibly kind of him and we loved every minute..he then took us upstairs to the control room and showed us how they monitor all the cars. He took us downstairs after that, asked us how many times we had been on the ride that day. When we told him 4, he said, well lets make it 5 and put us in the very next car! It was AMAZING! It really turned our whole night around. No more cranky..but still tired.
I never found out for sure, but I think Omar saw us handing out our fastpasses and mentioned it to Charles, who decided to do something special for us. Even if the 2 events had nothing to do with one another, it truly was a Magical Moment for all of us, especially my son!
