You know - if youre sick, STAY HOME! If the boss suggests you go home and rest, THEN GO HOME!

Friday a co-worker was a drooley, sniffley, slobbering mess! And she stayed the whole day - didnt do much either, cuz she didnt feel good.

Me and another girl yesterday had that "tickley nose" - and I was trying to be positive....and began Airborne.

And then today - we are sicker then &^%!!&@*!!!!! And I havent really posted anything about it, but Im getting married Friday! THANKS CO WORKER!!! And, Im having surgery NEXT Friday, and cant take any cold med's!!! THANKS CO WORKER!

To top it off, she was just -promoted- into a position that seems to be useless....so as I and another girl sit and answer endless calls all day long, she doesnt seem to be doing much. :furious:

You know, if youre sick - STAY HOME! Is it THAT hard to understand?

It's people like this, that IF the "Bird Flu" pandemic hits, are going to be NUMERO UNO for causing it to spread like wildfire.

No one thinks youre a trooper or dedicated - we think youre a jerk for coming in and getting us all sick.

AMEN, SISTER!!!!! We've got them all over our office TOO!! We have sick leave, so it's not like they won't get paid. We can even work at home!!! There is NO excuse for coming into the office sick in our company. Our director is so Monkish too, he says all the time "if you're sick, stay home-if you can work from home, fine, if not that's ok too"
There's just no reason other than their own massive egos thinking that the company would just collapse if they aren't here.

Congratulations! On the marriage, not the surgery. :rotfl:

I have some of those co-workers, too. Although I was the one coming in sick with a sinus infection last week. But everyone else had left early for spring break so there really wasn't anyone for me to infect.

I've seen co-workers come in the morning to moan about not feeling well. Then leave after 15 mins of being told to leave. I just don't get people. Yes, they have plenty sick time! Are they confusing it with vacation time? :confused3

Congratulations, hope you feel alot better by Friday.

awwww sorry you're getting sick, I'd be spraying the lysol and Oust but I'm crazy like that. Congrats on the marriage!!

So sorry you're sick CathrynRose. I HATED when co-workers did that when I was working in an office. Luckily it's just me and the horsies now, so now worries.

Oh and CONGRATULATIONS on your upcoming wedding!!!! I will be pulling for you to ditch the cold in plenty of time.

Ugh. I once had a former co-worker come in complaining of a stomach virus...yepp, we all got it. She'd been there for a million years, so it's not like she lacked the sick time. And congratultaions!

I'm sorry you're getting sick. Very rude of others to come in sick. Hope it comes & goes quickly.

CONGRATULATIONS on you wedding

Good luck on your surgery next Friday.

I worked with someone once who said whenever she felt a cold coming on she would drink as much OJ as she could and took Tylenol every 4 hours and the cold never hit really bad. I've never tried this because I don't like OJ.

I know how you feel!! TWO of my co-workers were sick and it was almost as if they found it amusing that they were at work. So guess what! I got sick (sinus infection, fever, cold), been sick since saturday and I actually am staying home till tomorrow... Darn people!!!
Sorry you're sick and congrats on your wedding.

First, CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:

I hope you feel better by Friday. Good luck with the surgery.

Keep us posted on EVERYTHING!!! :wave2:

Some places encourage perfect attendance with monetary as well as non-monetary rewards.

It becomes a pride-thing to get that stinking little P-A certificate and the $5 gift certificate. :rolleyes2

I hate being around sick people. I know this will get people mad at me, but I wish sick people would stay home and get well instead of spreading their germs. I realize they think they are troopers for going to work sick, and its true; some people have no problem being productive when they have a cold. But some people, when they catch a cold, are prone to sinus infections, asthma and bronchitis. I never get sick anymore, but before I discovered zicam (I LOVE that stuff), a "harmless cold" would make me seriously ill for three months. A simple cold for me means antibiotics for several weeks and prednisone; no fun at all!

If only people would just stay home! That is what sick pay is for. Jeez. Stay home, read a boook, watch a movie, eat chicken soup, and take care of yourself!

:rotfl2: :lmao:

I work with a few of those. One of our aides has more than 100 sick days yet she refuses to stay home when she's ill.:confused3

We have managers that DO NOT take a Sick day, they come to work, spread it around, and whats so sad is that when they retire the Sick time is LOST! Some of them have over 300 days of sick time, crap take a few days off, you won't be missed.:furious:

And this is me - I have asthmas so "It's just a cold" can turn into a hospital stay for me, if the situation is right.

Yes, stay home!!! That IS what sick pay is for, and heck, this girl has worked here for TEN YEARS, she has to have a butt load of sick AND vacation pay! What is the problem!??!? :confused3

And Im feeling feverish and dizzy now. I swear, if I get nauseous, guess where Ill be aiming? :crazy2: :p

I agree- people should just stay home but may I ask a question?? You said both you and another co-worker had a tickly nose and today "we are sicker then...." Does that mean YOU went to work sick??? :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Hope you feel better soon :)

This bugs me too. I don't work outside the home but at my dh company people always come in sick and spreads it through the whole company. It just happened last week. He said there were about 15 people who have, it started with one jerk that refused to keep his germs home and was spewing everywhere. Of course dh got it and then I got it. Thank goodness the kids didn't. I ended up at the dr. and had bronchitis.

Oh and Congratulations!! Hope you're feeling better by friday.

I have a job where you just can't call in because of a cold. They'd laugh at me if I told them I can't come in because I have a cold.

I'm a nurse, BTW. I know it's not right to go in & spread germs, but that's just how it is.

On the other hand, please don't tell everyone who is sniffling to stay home, especially this time of the year. I have allergies. I lose my voice. I sound like death warmed over. But I don't even get sinus headaches, and other than a little chest tightness, feel fine.

I get sick of people telling me I should go home and get better. I'M NOT SICK! I have no fever, I don't even have a runny nose, and I feel fine! I'm not contagious, not even to people with supressed immune systems.

So it works both ways.

Anne

I was just about to post this. I'm a nurse too and calling in sick isn't taken lightly. You have to be just about dead for it to be accepted. I'm sick now. Worked Sat and Sun with it. Yes, I probably gave it to all my co workers. My DH gave it to me. But try explaining that to the administrators. If you reach a certain number of non scheduled days off in a year, you get punished. And we don't have sick time....so yes, it is vacation time that we eat into if we choose to call in. I WISH I had a job where I could call in and tell them I had the sniffles and just stay in my bed.
