Total Toll for typical MCO to WDW?

Hey folks.

I'm heading to the world in February. :-) Now that we're through Christmas, I've moved to super-duper ultra planning mode. Does anyone know how much it costs to go through the tolls? We looked at our options for SunPass and using the transponder from our rental car, but I think it might just be simpler and cheaper to just pay cash. I'd like to have my dollars and cents ready to go in a baggie or something.

We plan to drive from the MCO airport to WDW (we're staying at the BLT) one day and plan to drive out a week later. :sunny:. We also plan to take 'the main toll roads the whole way' The 528 and the 4. No back roads or exploring for us on this trip. :drive:

I tried checking out the Sunpass website but it wasn't terribly user friendly. I found a few deadlinks and things that didn't function all that well. :P

What might that cost me one way? I remember for our first trip we had such a scramble for cash that it made us a bit panicky since we didn't plan for it. I'd like to avoid that flustered feeling. We have few toll roads where I live in Canada and it's a kind of foreign concept for us... I know it's not complicated it's just new and we'd like to get it right, eh?
Can someone guesstimate or estimate from memory?

Thanks for your help!

On the 417, our preferred route because it avoids I4, it's two tolls of $1.50 each for $3.00 total.

using south exit from airport, and 417, you will (can) pass only 2 tolls to get to the Disney properties ... you should only go thru the Celebration plaza if heading west (south) on I-4 towards Tampa. Of note I was up this way on Wed and heading thru the I-4 / 528 area around 7pm. Stop and go for several miles either side which is why I use 417 anytime I can

I always use the south airport exit mentioned above. Be forewarned, the first toll comes up quickly. Stay to the right to pay with cash (looks like an exit but it's not). I just make sure to have plenty of $1 bills and quarters

For what it's worth we've made several trips to WDW and finally just broke down and purchased a "portable" transponder. We actually missed a toll booth once so didn't want the hassle again plus drove down the last trip and this made it very convenient. Here is the link to Sunpass, https://www.sunpass.com/index . Also someone else asked a similar question so here is the link to that post, http://disboards.com/threads/sunpass-questions.3471942/ .

Thanks everyone! Grumpytx, PrincesCJM, Capt_BJ, Polydweller, and Bumbershoot. You are the best! Capt_BJ, my husband was so impressed with your map! We will definitely use this route and I'll make sure to have singles and quarters on hand. I wish wish wish we could go more often to warrant the use of the SunPass!

a roll of quarters is actually best

when you use the pay lanes there are exact change and attended lanes. Passing thru on Wed there was usually a decent line waiting for the ONE attended lane while the exact changes lanes had none . . . ALMOST as fast as the electron pay lanes

Cash is the way to go .... stay in right lane ...... $ & 25 cents

Will a few min max hold up time in Q to pay the toll money spoil your vacation ?

Noted! A roll of quarters. This is exactly the kind of info that is so helpful. :upsidedow:-):-):D

I was going to mention that but I wasn't sure how easy it would be to get in Canada. glad someone else mentioned it! :) We typically take a roll of quarters and several one dollar bills, and keep those handy. That way you don't have to go to the cashier line that gives change, though we do actually like to do that to get the receipt.

Stay to the right. It looks like you're exiting. The tollbooths are highly signed, so as long as someone in the car is paying attention and has permission* to pipe up and tell the driver what to do, and as long as the driver listens to the navigator, you should be fine.

*I picture giving a child the job to watch for the signs, but then the child isn't allowed to interrupt conversation...or if the two adults in the car have gotten into some sort of argument and aren't speaking or wanting to listen, LOL. Hey, it's vacation. Stress happens! :)

My bil was charged for not paying a toll and had no receipt to prove he had paid, so we always use the both to get a receipt to avoid the hassle and fee.

there is one toll in the area that there is no both they take a picture of your licnse plate and bill you this way

it is $5 so a few $1 and quarters and you should be fine but take some extra money with you in case you are like me and get lost a lot.
