I rarely START threads but I am just SO pleased and I am hoping some of you will share my joy with me!

Backtrack to the winter when we finally decided we would bite the bullet and book a cruise for our family of 8. Having to pay adult fare for the first two kids made it very obvious to us from the get-go that we were going to have to exercise limits in order to pull it off at all. (We are also do land portions before and after.)

Off the bat we realized we would be better off financially to book a classic ship over a new ship. We opted for inside cabins to again save money. So, in February we booked a 4-night cruise on the Magic for May 2014.

I was a little disappointed after watching the Trip Planning DVD where they really showcase the newer ships. The kids were so excited about what we saw and we had to let them know a time or two that we weren't going on a new ship.

WELL - we all know the news that came out for the Magic late April. That was a super-fun thing to hear. :cloud9:

An IRL friend who recently did a 7-night told me we wouldn't have pirate party OR fireworks because we were only doing 4 nights. I took it in stride, because I have been so excited about our vacation in general and knew there was plenty of other fantastic things to do on the ship.

Then, about two weeks ago I asked a question in a thread that let me know we WOULD (most likely) get a pirate night! pirate: THEN, just last week, I learned we DO get fireworks.

AND TODAY I read our inside cabins actually DO have obstructed view portholes! :goodvibes We get to see daylight and the weather! :goodvibes

WE HAVEN'T EVEN GOTTEN TO PORT and the "magical moments" are already happening!!!

We had selected the cabin we did based on the square footage, the split bathroom and the deck.

I'm just so stinking excited I had to share.

Very happy and excited for you! :cool1: Your family will have a fabulous time! Enjoy!

Gush away. Congratulations. I hope those moments keep coming. Old ship or new ship - it will be new to you. Enjoy it. I have been lucky enough to have been on old and new. Each have their individual wonderfullness.

Have fun.

I agree with PP, this does become an addiction.

IRL people don't know as much as DIS pros. I would definitely do more than 'take it in stride' with the rumors people say...I wouldn't pay attention to it until you verify it with Disney reps or here.

Yay for good reliable expectations!

Gush away! That's great news for you and your family. I hope the magical moments continue. pixiedust:

Always great to get good news! I hope your magic continues right through the cruise.
And it's news to me that you might not get pirate party or fireworks on 4-nighter. We did 3-nighter in the past and those two events are selling points to get my extended family on a 4-nighter. I sure hope they are included!

Glad you're already getting some magic! Any day on a Dis cruise is better than any day at home so it's all good. Enjoy your cruise!!!

I'm so excited for you all! We are a family of six and also had to pay adult rates for two of the kids. It is very pricey and was supposed to be our once in a lifetime, but we had the most magical vacation ever and rebooked onboard! I know you will LOVE it!

Well, I am excited for you and your family of 8. Lots of fun in store for you all!:thumbsup2

:thumbsup2 All Bahamas/Caribbean cruises have Pirate Night and fireworks. I don't know about cruises to other places though.

OP did you have Pirate Night on your 3-night Wonder cruise in 2001?

We did not. I still have the Navigators and looked to see if we'd had but perhaps skipped. That was sort of pre-pirate craze.

We did a 3 night on the Dream in April 2013 and we DID have a pirate night & fireworks. Here's hoping that you do get both on your cruise.
