Okay, I'm game.
First a few variables need to get defined, since this more complicated than it seems upon first blush:
- Inventory used here comes out of the excellent points balancing thread for 2022
- You have to decide how to manage lockoffs. I handled them the same way the point balancing does; namely, I ran the numbers once with all lockoffs as 2 BR, and another time with them as 1 BR/DS. It doesn't change the max, but it does change the mins.
- Max occupancy I took right off the DVC points charts: 2 in TS, 4 in DS, 5 in 1 BR, 9 in 2 BR, 12 in 3BR, 8 in Cabins, 9 in Treehouse Villas. I know Riviera says it can sleep 5 in the DS, but it's the only one who says that, and...I wanted to make it kind-of easy to calculate so I used 4.
- For mins I had to choose something, so I chose these levels (my logic is in parenthesis):
- Tower Studios at 2 (couple)
- Deluxe Studios at 3 (on average, couple + child)
- 1BR at 4 (two couples, couple + 2 children)
- 2BR at 5 (two couples + child, couple + 3 children)
- 3BR at 8 (three couples, couple + 4 children)
- Cabin and Treehouses at 5 (same as 2 BR)
Here's the results of all that math, with resorts listed like this: "Min-Max with LO as 2 BR, Min-Max with LO as DS/1BR"
AKV 2264-3958 with LO as 2 BR, 2766-3958 with LO as DS/1BR
BCV 948-1612 with LO as 2 BR, 1096-1612 with LO as DS/1BR
BLT 1447-2571 with LO as 2 BR, 1741-2571 with LO as DS/1BR
BRV 613-1016 with LO as 2 BR, 703-1016 with LO as DS/1BR
BWV 1612-2463 with LO as 2 BR, 1910-2463 with LO as DS/1BR
CCV 828-1352 with LO as 2 BR, 900-1352 with LO as DS/1BR
OKW 2736-4860 with LO as 2 BR, 3196-4890 with LO as DS/1BR
PVB 1180-1620 (no LO)
RIV 1564-2631 with LO as 2 BR, 1860-2631 with LO as DS/1BR
SSR 4548-8100 with LO as 2 BR, 5412-8100 with LO as DS/1BR
VGF 518-918 with LO as 2 BR, 612-918 with LO as DS/1BR
DVC at DW 18,258-31,101 with LO as 2 BR, 21,376 to 31,101 with LO as DS/1BR
I don't know about you all, but some of that surprises me. No wonder they're adding rooms to Grand Floridian - it's way too small compared to the others! Beach Club also looks on the smallish side, while Riviera is on the bigger side. Saratoga Springs is huge; we all knew that, but look at it in context: almost 25% of all DVC visitors are at SSR. Yikes! And I would guess in Disney's mind BRV and CCV are one resort, since together they're about the right size compared to the others.
I also re-tumbled these with DS as 2 people instead of 3 across the whole resort, and it's a 600-head swing in the first case and a 2300-head swing in the second, or maybe 5%.
So there you go. If you have any questions, or you disagree with any logic in here, or want to see it sliced up differently, let me know and I can crank the numbers again.
