Ok, so I decided to start sewing and making my own gifts and bought me a second hand sewingmachine and a secondhand brother 190D

Tomorrow I can pick up the brother and then what? Ofcourse it has build in Disneypatterns but what do I need to put other patterns in?
I live in Europe so I can't run to walmart to get something.
Can I just transfer them with USB or do I really need the special device which is insanely expensive?

I'm going to follow a sewingclass next month so the sewing is covered, but I really want to make some gift for my niece that will be born next month.

check out sewforum.com. There is lots of helpful advise there. You should be able to find the instruction manual the Brother website, so that might provide some answers also.

It depends on the model. The least expensive Disney Brother Machine has been discontinued (uses an annoying cassette system), and for that machine you will need the us $100 transfer thingie to transfer files you have downloaded on your computer. I bought the Brother 900D and I have a USB that I can use to transfer designs. HOWEVER, no matter what, you will have to buy Disney cartridges for Disney designs because you cannot download Disney licensed designs. You can find some unlicensed Disney files on Etsy (not sure of the legalities there, some are towing the line, IMO).
