ToT recent experiences?

Has anyone rope dropped ToT recently?
Any news as to when the refurb is going to be done?
Is it still a viable strategy to RD ToT then RnRC with minimal waits?

We tried rope dropping TOT yesterday and the wait went to 60 minutes within a couple of minutes of the drop. Line moved at a snail’s pace. We hopped out of line— don’t think it’s viable for now.

I waited 95 minutes about 10 minutes after rope drop on Friday morning. RnRC was down all morning so ToT was a mad house. I wouldnt have waited but I had a fast pass for ST and TSMM for later in the morning.

150 min wait around 3:00 Monday last week. Thank the lord we had a FP

the line wasn't terrible in May . After SDD FP and TSMM, did RnRC and then Tot with a 20 minute wait. Sounds like it has changed a lot.

We recently rope dropped it in July - got to the park around 8:40. Made our way down Hollywood Blvd and they were holding everyone there for ToT and RnRC. Let us go at 8:55. We did ToT first, then RnRC, both with minimal waits. We tried this strategy in May but got to the park a little later - they had already let the masses descend on the 2 rides and ToT was like a 95 minute wait before 9AM! So it’s doable if you get there early enough.

We didn't RD it, but we had a FP for 9:15-10:15 yesterday, and it changed to a Multiple Experience FP at about 9:05 so I'm assuming it was down at RD. It was down for around an hour (I think?). I felt so bad for the RD crowd who tried to plan ahead.

I’m worried about ToT. We will be there 2 weeks from today doing EMM at HS. I couldn’t get any early day FP for ToT. Ours is at 5pm. I was hoping to hightail it to ToT right before rope drop but now I’m afraid the wait will be too long. We want to be able to get to backlot express to have our EMM breakfast before it stops at 10.

I too want to know at what time to leave Toy Story Land to join the RD crowd for TOT and get 'er done in time to still get our breakfast back in Backlot Express.

We got in line at 858 PM on a 9 PM close. Wait said 75. We were off in 45. Line moves quickly as no one is using FP. To me, if you can stay late and aren’t watching the shows, it’s a good strategy.

I hate to be negative, but....you probably can't.

From everything I have read, if you are in the regular RD line, unless you are throwing punches or running to the tower (Don't do any of these things, seriously; but I don't doubt there are people who would) you are going to have a substantial wait. In my personal actual experience, EMM to ToT is nearly an impossibility. I think probably the luckiest you could get would be an hour wait. We got over to ToT, it was over 100 minutes wait within minutes of RD. We decided to SR Rock n Roller coaster, and we could have probably gotten to Backlot just barely before breakfast ended, but, we stopped and did Mickey and Minnie instead.

You'd have to get very lucky, be one of the very first groups on, and not run into any other unforeseen issues in order to even have a chance. So, I wouldn't plan on it.

I had the exact same plan. I'm doing EMM HS on Aug 19th and hoped to jump on TOT before eating the breakfast. Based on these threads I'm going to just forget about that unless there is some evidence that the refurbishment is finished. My family only really like TSL and TOT at HS so we're planning to hop to AK later in the day and have FPs there for FOP, EE and ROL. If the refurb is still on for TOT then I may skip it entirely this trip
