I'm trying to get myself motivated to ride this ride. Last time we went I had the excuse that my DD (5 at the time) would be too scared and I had to stay with her. Now she has become quite the little ride freak and I know she'll want to ride it. Is it really that scary? Or am I just a big baby?

We went last year and it is my favorite ride anywhere!! Go for it. :flower:

Its really not bad, and I also think this ride has some of the BEST effects in it!! ITs worth going through the drop part at the end just to experience the entire ride. It really isnt bad at all, youll have fun I promise :earboy2:

It's really not that bad.I think what scares you more is the UNKOWN. You go in and go through the room in your seat listening to the story and watching the holograms and sit and it stops and you are sitting there in the dark, waiting..... As soon as you begin to see the elevator doors open, HOLD ON! You drop, stop, fly back up, stop, doors open, drop back down some. From what I hear there is no "pattern". Sometimes it goes up or down just a few stories. In there you do get the 13 floor drop. The preshow lasts longer. Oh and they take your picture screaming your head off at some point on it too.

You should do it at least once, just so you'll know.

I did not go on the ride for 3 years and would just stare at it and then chicken out. After my younger sister went on it, I knew I had to at least try. I was panicked the first time I went on and it was only the fear of the unknown. Once I went on, the first thing I said was "can we go on again." I went on the ride 9 times in a row!! It is by far, my favorite ride!! I am going in January and hopefully the wait time will be short as I intend to go on it many times. Go for it, you will love it and you can always close your eyes.

Absolutely one of the best themed rides at WDW. DH did it the past couple x we were there and I always stayed with the kids. This May he double dog dared me - and there was NO line. I just walked right on. Riding by yourself is weird - but I realized as I walked down to the "loading" area that there were little kids and way older people than me waiting to get on. How bad could it be? It was soo much fun! I can't wait to go back. The lights and effects really add to the show. The view of MGM is fantastic. The only down side was my picture when I came out. Apparently thrill rides do nothing for my looks!

I think a lot has to do with what "gets you". I do well with drops, ok with loops and not well at all with spinning. Quite logically, I have no problems with ToT, I do pretty good on RnR and the Teacups are my worst nightmare. I don't even want to think about Mission Space.

For me the feeling on ToT is similar to what you experience on the first drop of a big wooden roller coaster. If that really gets you, ToT might be an issue. If that sensation is ok for you, I would definately give it a try.

I hate it, my DD9 hates it. But last time (and the time before that), we rode it :flower: . It's really not that bad. You can do it once. I don't like heights, so that's what bothers me, but it's not scary.

I am The BIGGEST baby in the world, and I fare fine on this ride - matter of fact, it's one of my faves and we ride it several times in a row, usually.

It has incredible themeing!

I'd try it once and see =)

In every "ride picture" taken of me at WDW I had the exact same expression-eyes shut and mouth wide open in a huge scream. ToT was the exception. I had a huge smile on my face because it was sooooo much fun. Go for it!

Ok...I used to go on it....but I haven't the past few times we have been down. I admit, I have been chickening out. DH makes fun of me, and says that every year I drop one ride from my list. He jokes that this year it will be Pirates of the Carribean b/c of that drop. I am not a big fan of thrill rides (I went on Rockin Rollercoaster once and almost peed my pants!).

What gets me on ToT is when that white line goes up the door...then it opens...and you are in the dark....waiting to fall. That is the worst! :earseek:

I don't want to discourage you from trying ToT, but I'm a big chicken and drops scare the heck out of me. I've been on Splash once and maybe if I'm having a particularly brave day I'll try it again. But anyway, about ToT . . . my family kept telling me it was no big deal and I could handle it. I went on Primevil Whirl at AK and they said that's worse. But now that ToT has the random drop sequences you never know which you are going to get. My family went on ToT another time on our last trip and they all got off saying its a good thing I wasn't on that one because the drops that time were all really bad. So just knowing there's a possibility I could be on it and get a "bad one" is enough to keep me off it always!! Good luck with whatever you decide!!!

If regular elevators bother you, and you do not like "butterflies" in your stomach, DO NOT ride it. There are thousands who love it, as well as thousands that hate it.

Not scary at all, DS rode when he was 6, DD when she was 8. The special effects, preshow, and even the lobby setting are great.

To me, scary, is standing at the 20th story railing of a balcony looking straight down at the ground and knowing that if the railing should happen to break, that sudden stop is not going to be exciting. Can get chills just thinking about it.

Now going on ToT is something entirely different. I find it exciting and fun experiencing the sights and sounds leading up to the absolute dead quiet just before the first drop and it is at that time I go limp and let the force of being pushed down create that weightless feeling. It is so cool that you can be elevated in an elevator numerous times before you get off and then head out and get back on to do it again because it is such a rush.

If going over bumps and dips in a road bothers you then ToT might not be too good but if you can get yourself past the hype that surrounds this ride then I think you will find it to be one of the best.

We used to go on it every year. We had to do all the rides, and complete the park. Then one time, I said to myself,"Why am I riding this thing if I really don't enjoy it?" I haven't been back since, and don't miss it at all.

Piece of cake. This ride is fun, but not scary. If you ever saw the frog hopper ride that the kids go on, it really is just like a gian version. The drops are very smooth and easy on the body.

My dd who is kind of a chicken loves it.

Since I turned 40 I can no longer handle a lot of coaster (which I used to love), but this one is a piece of cake.

Go for it, it's a great ride and not bad at all.

Let me tell you, I was PETRIFIED to go on TOT, but my DS 13 really didn't want to go alone, and everyone else was too chicken to even think about it, so I went with him. It's really not that bad. It's the anticipation that gets you. I really thought the height would get me, but because it's enclosed I was ok. The themeing and special effects are awesome! It's alot of fun, go for it!

I enjoy rollercoasters (though Space Mountain is abit jarring to me), hate spinning rides - (forget Tea Cups). ToT is a different sort of thing. You do not have the visual impact of a drop, that you would have with a roller coaster. And it is a much smoother ride without the jerky curves. I found it exhilarating. All of us in the elevator were laughing out loud - we could not help it. What grins we all wore, as we left the ride. It was soooo fun. My favorite ride. If you do the ride and hate it, then you will have spent a bit of time uncomfortable. The alternative is to never know what might be your favorite ride ever!
