TOT 10 Miles of Awesome (maybe)

Yhea for butterbeer mustaches! Woo! :) I could go for one of those right about now!

It was really delicious. I used a recipe from Food Network. We made it hot. It was like a warm butterscotch frothy drink. Mmmmmm. There are like a million recipes to make it but I went with the simplest because I can't cook lol


Next on this week's agenda is a fishing trip. I have no idea what to do with the things once we catch them but DS is determined to go. I got my fishing license so I'll be legal and we have a couple of poles. Wish me luck, I am terrified!
 
Well my training run today has been punched back. Yesterday I was doing some volunteer work and threw out my back. Thought it would go away overnight, but I am hunched over like Quasimodo this morning. Icing and taking ibuprofen and hoping it goes away so I can catch up tomorrow

I feel like Debbie Downer lately lol. I am ok right now. My back is better but I am resting it today. I think part if my foot issue was, after I hurt it, I kept going anyway. So this time I am taking a couple days off to rest.

Friday we had my oldest son's birthday party at a local cinema. He took a group of friends to see How To Train Your Dragon 2. It is a new cinema and super nice. They have us a party room and the kids had a blast.



Now my oldest is off to camp and my youngest is back from camp. It's harder to run with him around but I may make a few trips to the ymca so he can go in child care while I get some laps in.

Whine all you want...I totally understand. I feel like all I do is whine about my shins! Chin up...this will only make you stronger!

How was the movie? My boys want to see this sooooo bad! The cake looks great...and I love movie theater parties!
 
Got my 30 minutes in today. Felt ok, just really feeling the fact that I had so much down time. I feel like that commercial where the guy sets the treadmill to "mosey and loiter" lol

I am less than a month away from the Peachtree with my son, who is not training with me and I am seriously worried about him... He's at overnight camp this week, but when he gets back I have to kick his butt

30 treadmill minutes in today. Not too bad, still taking it slow, but I am at about a 13:20 m/m with a 1/1 interval. Worried about reinjury so really going slow as far as increasing speed/mileage.

Ran in my Raw Threads Red Queen shirt. It's still a bit snug, gotta get a few more pounds off before TOT!

Good job on getting out there AND that's a fine time. Who cares so long as you are out there doing it. (which, I am not yet... and for no other reason than laziness)-

13:20 is not slow! I would worry more about mileage than speed.

Well I have found treadmill time does not equally relate to real time, so a 13:20 treadmill mile is closer to a 14:00 real mile. Plus I am only doing short distances and in the a/c. Lol I am a bit of a worrier as you can tell!

Today is 3 miles which I hope to fit in later today. My 10k is less than two weeks away and I am very nervous

True, I'm faster on the treadmill than on the road as well.

Does the treadmill you use have that fan feature? My gym's have that but I always turn it off to try to reduce the 'comfort' along with getting the ones by the door so there isn't as great a/c going on.

Its fine to be a worrier! I am too. You will do great at your 10k!

No I have a basic model I got from Sears. It has incline and stuff but no fan (I figured that would be the first thing to break anyway).

Yesterday I was all set to do my run. Had clothes laid out and as soon as I got the kids to bed I was going to start. Well, while bringing in groceries I must have stepped funny... And I threw my back out again! I swear I am suddenly turning into an 80 year old woman! Next up is a life alert necklace because it's only a matter of time before I fall and can't get up. Lol
 
Never have run on a treadmill...I am wondering how you would do intervals. I know the treadmill is going to be in my training plans once the weather turns colder right before PHM!
 
Follow up visit to the orthopedist today. Still having the pain. He thinks the only permanent solution will be surgery, no thank you. So he gave me some cortisone shots in my ankle and foot (ouch!), and a new ankle brace for running in. Right now I am not feeling grey. The shots REALLY hurt and I am supposed to stay off my feet today.

Anyway, he said it is ok to do my 10k Friday as long as I don't push (plan on walking it since DS won't make it otherwise). So wish me luck!
 
How did I never know you had a PTR going??? :confused3

I hope the shots and the brace help, I wouldn't want surgery either. :sad2:
 
Sorry we weren't able to meet up this weekend! We ended up drinking way too much this weekend & all our plans completely changed on an hourly basis it seemed. It was weird!

I hope you had a great time at Disney and are enjoying your surprise now :)
 
Thanks. I have been a bit MIA lately. Lots going on personally. Heading to the doctor Thursday to get a second opinion on my foot
