Tortola Excursion Reviews

Looks like we are on the same cruise! I hope the water is warm...I like it bath water temp too! Getting excited here!!!

I would estimate the water in Tortola & st. Thomas last week to have been about 78 and CC 75. I too am a Floridian who loves her 88 degree pool. I forced myself to get in at all 3 places to snorkel and honestly i got used to the temp pretty quickly. Concentrating on snorkeling helped. I don't know whether it was just my imagination, but the water seemed warmer as the day went on.

After the first initial shock of the cold water, you do tend to get used to it. Especially if you're swimming or snorkeling, because you're exercising.
I think that water sounds PERFECT.

I'm glad I made the decision NOT to go to the Baths. I have bad knees and a bad leg, so the rock wandering wouldn't have gone well for me. Thanks so much for that info!

Yup, that sounds about right! After the initial shock it warmed up quick and your body adjusted to it. Cane Garden Bay was fabulous with the calm water and that warmed up very fast.

Did anyone happen to see how close (or far) to the port Colombian Emeralds is? Tortola..

Hi, I was also on 4/25 to Tortola. Colombian Emeralds is about 2 blocks from the ship. After you clear the enclosure of the ship you will see tents with vendors and at the end of that road is a small group of shops and it is right there. Easy Walk.

Did anybody go on the Day at the Baths excursion? I am booked for that one right now as it is two hours longer than the Tour of Virgin Gorda excursion. I assume that we can just skip the meal that is included and use that extra time on the beach?

Did any one do the Island tour on Tortola? I have My Mom 88 and sister 68 booked on it. I Hope they can do it by themselves since I am going snorkling.

We did! It was wonderful, as I too was travelling with a 78 year old ( and 3 children ). I really wanted the baths but knew it would not be "doable " with my party.

Disney is wonderful to book through. I know it's more expensive then booking on you own, but for first timers like us, it was so organized and just great!

We met in Rockin Bar D at 9:00 am and then walked out to waiting open air taxis. We had Boots as our driver. He was super! He was so proud of his Island, and made some great stops for pictures. The drive was about an hour
and a half or so,( be warned..they charged $1.00 to use the bathroom at our first stop) The views were spectatular!
The beach stop was 1 hour, chairs and umbrellas were reserved for our tour (they were directing others away from our area).
The drive back was uneventful, and shoping was well, all soveniers. Not alot in town, glad we booked the tour.

Hope that helps!

Would anyone be willing to post pics of your shore excursions? I have reserved the Baths excursion, and am thinking of changing to one of the others. I would love to see pics!

Good thought. I'd like to know the answer to that one too.

We did the Island Tour, Beach & Lunch excursion through Disney on Tortola: Our driver was Courtney and he was very knowledgeable and accommodating, stopping when we asked for photos. I was surprised that there was cactus on the island. The lunch was delicious and Cane Garden Beach was beautiful. One thing that I will note here is that the isles on the bus were made for people who are a size 10 or below because my size 12 had to squeeze a little to get through. ......

I am very curious about the tour bus now...I am a plus size gal....were all the tour buses like this??? We have this tour booked as well..should I consider cancelling it??? :confused3

thanks for any info...

Thanks, I think they will be okay. Did you stop for lunch? What time did you get back to the ship?

We were on the Magic for the first trip to Tortola also.

I have some pictures if anyone is interested in seeing them. www.photobucket.com/adnil530

We are doing this excursion on Tortola as well. Loved your pictures!

Are there any good beaches close to the ship. We are doing the swim with dolphins in August and should be finished around 12:30 and would like to hit a beach after. Any suggestions?

I'm sure that if the driver thinks it may be a problem, he can make sure that you get to sit in the front row of seats.
