My parents who live in Canada will be traveling with us to Orlando this November. They have never traveled to Florida and we have never had to have a need to research prices between YYZ and MCO. We live in Dayton Ohio.

Prices over the past several weeks on Air Canada and WestJet have been around $259 CAD$ each way plus fees and taxes per person. Today the prices dropped to around $159 CAD$ each way plus taxes and fees per person. We are flying to Orlando on Nov 20 and returning on Nov 30. Are these fairly good prices? Air Canada is about $805 all inclusive and WestJet is about $885 for two people. These are all direct flights.

These flights surround the US Thanksgiving, but I don't think that woule have much of an effect on prices for flights originating in Canada?

Any help is appreciated since we really don't have any idea what to expect price wise. Our flights are usually in the $400 US$ range out of DAY for two people.

My mother also asked me about Air Canada, they have only flown WestJet in the past on the few flights they have taken. What are the differences? She mentioned something about WestJet having personal entertainment for each passenger, not sure what Air Canada has to offer?

You won't find anything much lower than $109-$159 with West Jet and Air Canada. $800CAD for two people is a bargain.

West Jet is known for their personable, customer service experience. Air Canada is okay but commonly more expensive unless you purchase tickets early. Don't buy "Tango" class as they commonly oversell and have a more likely chance to get bumped. Stick with "Tango Plus" if you go with Air Canada.

Watch for the seat sales with West Jet and always compare with Air Canada. Go with who ever may be cheaper. Either way, you won't be disappointed. Hope that helps! :goodvibes

Thanks for the response. Currently they don't have any Tango fares available, the cheapest fares are Tango Plus. They seem to like WestJet and may go with them even with the slightly higher price.

I just didn't want them to end up buying now if they could wait for a better deal later. Sounds like now is the time for them to move on buying the tickets. We just bought ours today out of DAY. Our prices were much higher due to the holiday flights. Had to move our flights out one day on each side of our trip to get them reasonable. It was either $440 leaving on Friday and returning on Tuesday or vs over $1000 with a Saturday departure and Monday return.

Like jenbear123 said, $800 CDN all in for 2 people out of YYZ is a steal. Its safe to say that $1000 for 2 would be norm out of YYZ.
If driving to BUF and flying from there is out of the question, definitely go ahead and book before that price goes up.

Thanks for the responses. Tickets are now bought. They decided to go with the WestJet flights for around $880. Do they fly in to terminal A at MCO?

I am flight watching also for our trip from AB to Orlando in Nov. and the Westjet flights are now at 199.00 each way from Calgary....hmmm to wait or to book is the big question...I am thinking we will book direct flights there and have a layover to return to get the best deals....

To the OP your parents made a great choice going with WestJet and two weeks ago my family and I made our flight reservations with them for this December when we fly from Toronto - Orlando. One reason we went with them is because we were able to pay a bit extra and pre-purchased our seats and WestJet does not overbook their flights, so if you purchase a seat it's yours.

Also this past December when my family and I flew from Toronto - Orlando we went with Air Canada because my dad was able to use his Aeroplan points and only had to pay those extra fees. However after we checked-in online our boarding passes did not list our seat numbers and it turns out we never had confirmed seats for the flight to Orlando, instead we only had confirmed seats flying back to Toronto. Don't ask me how that is possible because we booked the seats online through the Aeroplan website the 1st chance we could and no where did it say that Economy seats to Orlando was sold out. So we had to go standby and we were lucky enough to get on that flight because they put all the standby passengers in Business Class since no one bought those seats and there was no room in Economy.

Anyway because of that experience we will always try to fly on WestJet whenever we can and it's because of the option to pre-pay for your seats which we think is worth the extra cost.

I couldn't agree more. We always fly WestJet. I LOVE that they don't overbook their flights!

I got in on that seat sale on Friday night for our upcoming Nov. trip, it was a great deal!:thumbsup2 Your folks done good!

And yes, WestJet is Terminal A in Orlando. (map)

My parents didn't pay to have their seats preassigned since they aren't concerned with where they will sit. This shouldn't cause any issues with being bumped as they have a confirmed ticket?

They won't have any problems because when I called WestJet and asked them about that they told me even if you don't pre-pay for your seats you will still get on the flight you booked, since they don't overbook their flights.

I forgot to say if your parents change their minds they can still pre-pay for the seats, by calling WestJet or looking up their reservation on their website. It's $10.00 for a regular seat and $15.00 for the exit row. For my families flights we picked the exit row for the extra leg space and it's what my dad picked when we flew from Toronto - Las Vegas.
