Cruising on the Disney Wonder from April 22 -26th, 2016 and not sure when to book our flights!

Air Canada has a Florida seat sale that ends tomorrow and the total return cost for 4 of us out of Pearson to Miami is $1490. I've been watching flights since August and this is the lowest price I have seen. We usually fly out of Buffalo, but with the exchange what it is, and a comparison cost, it works out to around the same. I don't anticipate that changing anytime soon, and the convenience of a 20 minute drive to the Toronto airport is making this an attractive deal. But is it?

Should I just bite the bullet and book now, or hold out and hope for something lower as we approach April??

It's depends how much of a risk taker you are. I would look at the before tax price and then think realistically how much cheaper will it get. IMO that's a decent price.

I didn't book it. I looked back to 2014 and we paid $1349 out of Buffalo for 5 people to Orlando. Paying an additional 140 for less people travelling was hard to swallow! Southwest flights out of Buffalo should be released tomorrow so maybe I can catch a good early-bird price. If not I think Air Canada usually has another sale in January. West Jet is also an option if they offer a deal.

Is that $1349 USD? That's almost $1800 CAD.
Myself, I think that's a really good price from YYZ.
I lock in when I thin the price is fair ..that would be what I'd be ok with.

No the 1349 was Canadian dollars.

Ok just checked and the South West flights are already out!

$831 for 4 of us from Buffalo to Ft. Lauderdale which converts to $1098 Canadian. Maybe no hotel required as the flight leaves Buffalo at 1 in the afternoon. Just need to be sure I can disembark the cruise ship and get from Miami to Fort Lauderdale for 11;50 flight home....

Our last three cruises have all been from Miami including the Wonder this past March. 11:50 should not be an issue. We have disembarked around 8:30 - 8:45 on each cruise. Used SAS on two of the cruises and a taxi on the third. In each case we were at the airport, checked in, and through security by 10:15 (love the Jetblue curbside check in). In all cases the cost was between $70 - $80 with tip.

Thanks darwinsrule! That makes me feel great because I booked the flight last night! Do you stay in Fort Lauderdale or Miami the night before cruise? That's my next step in the planning!

YIKES !!!! too expensive !!

We always fly BUF to Ft Lauderdale .. then make the 45 min drive from FLL to Miami. When we sail out of POM.

As of 2 min's ago..

BUF-FLL April 20 rtn 27th is only $104 PP/Direct / PW On Southwest
x4 people + 831 USD
convert to CDN your looking at about $1100

$390 cheaper

Stay in FLL. MUCH cheaper.
If you don't want to rent a car take SAS transport from FLL to POM $15 per person.
In Ft Lauderdale we always stay at Roadway Inn. Not the Ritz but clean and comfy.
It's basically a Cruise hotel..always filled with Cruisers. They will pick you up at the Airport and they have a shuttle that will take you to POM..or just use SAS.

Miami. We have done both the Holiday Inn at POM and the Hampton Inn over in Brickell. Hampton in is by far the better hotel, but Holiday Inn has the location if you have time and get in early (Bayside Marketplace is across the street with shopping and dining options). There is also a CVS about a block and a half away in case you forget anything (or like me want to stock up on good pain killers). Both places you can get rooms with two queen/double beds plus a sofa bed. Worth the extra price. Hampton also has a free breakfast. Prices during March Break were brutal ($350 U.S. for the night). We had flight problems and didn't get to the hotel until just after 2 am. Were gone by 11 am. Probably the most we have ever spent for such a little amount of time.

We do Miami largely to get the travel done in one day. It is 10 min from the hotels in Miami to the port. Just easier and we don't feel like we are rushing the morning of. Flew down morning of this past August (it was the second trip this year so we were doing it on the cheap) on a 6:35 am SW direct flight. Kids handled it quite well. Still makes for a long day for everyone involved however. Should never be the first choice however (airfare the day before was twice as much).
