My adult daughter and I are going to spend a night (1 1/2 days) in Toronto. We are interested in Chinatown (Dim Sum), Kensington Market area and Yonge-Dundas. I know my daughter would also like to go to a distillery or a good place for wine (maybe a wine tasting). It will probably be a Sunday night. We would like someplace we can walk around during the day and be active at night. We're pretty comfortable travelers. I'm looking for opinions on where would be the best area to stay in. Will Yonge-Dundas be active at night on a Sunday? Or would another area also be good for being out and about at night? Should we stay in the downtown area and travel to the other places, or stay in the Chinatown/Kensington are and travel to downtown? Fairly safe?

Any other thoughts on what we shouldn't miss? Any halloween happenings?

Thanks,
Jessica

You may like the Distillery District. It’s a bit east of downtown and is really nice. They have a website. Look up the area known as “Queen West”. You may enjoy that area. The Yonge and Dundas Square is not a spot I enjoy - it’s a bit “rough” I guess you could say, but I am not in that area often so I could be wrong. Queen’s Quay on the water is lively when the weather is good.
The area near the Royal York hotel like someone mentioned would be good as a transportation hub. But any hotels a few blocks north of there would be good too. In terms of safety if you have traveled in big cities it will be the same as in Toronto.

Case Loma has the legends of horror going on in October.
It’s a walk through of an old castle. It’s kind of fun. We did it a few years back.
Casa Loma is on the subway line, so it’s easy to get to.
