Toronto Disney Store closing

I think the Eaton Centre is trying to go more 'upscale' with renters, so they're likely forcing some clients out. Not sure how it will go...

I think that's there main problem they don't get who shops there. They should look at the stores that you see the most peole walking around it with bags from them. On any given day you will see the most people with bags from Abbercrombie and Fitch, Holistor, American Eagle and Areoplastle.

You can also call one of the GTA stores and have items shilled to Montreal, saves on shipping, but the selection is not the same as on-line so you have to be open to substitutions sometimes...
Sorry but whats a GTA Store?!?!?!?! Thanks!

Thanks! I'll give that a try later this morning and see if it works.

I hope so!!!!!

GTA = Greater Toronto Area. It just means a store located in the GTA.

Cool! I didnt know i could do that! I'll know for next time! Thanks!

I remember here at Fairview we had the old classic design Disney store, then they changed the design to that modern looking red and white which I didn't like and then it closed :(
But town center is definitely getting it this summer

It's kind of funny Fairview, Yorkdale and Scarborough town all got the new design and end up closing first. The Eaton Centre one had the old look until the end. I hope that Scarborough town gets one of the new style ones they are doing now rather then then the Children's place model. Who knows they may even do something exclusive to Canada in it.

What's so bad about it? I personally think the Eaton centre is going down hill the current management seam to have no clue what they are doing. They close one of the busiest McDonald's in Toronto, renovate the food court into some totally confusing concept no one gets. a lot of the food locations there don't seam to get much traffic as people don't want what is there or want something they are familiar with. And then there is there biggest mistake no Santa clause in the mall instead they had people make appointments to talk to him on Skype.
Oh I don't know maybe the fact that people get shot and stabbed their on a fairly regular basis. A friend of mine who worked at one of the store's brother was waiting for her to finish work one night and these guys starting hassling him and he was stabbed. So STC isn't a mall I really want to go to.

As for the TEC it's a tourist mall, none of the people that I know who live in Toronto actually shop there. I have no use for it now that the DS is gone.

That may be a bit of an exaggeration, yes Scarborough may not be the safest place to be at night, but when your're anywhere in a big city at night stuff like that happens. To say thing like that happen regularly is ridicules. I've been her tons of times and it is no different then any other mall in Toronto.

Except management doesn't seem to get that either they haven't got a clue what they are doing. They are trying to make it some sort of high end snobby place and they will eventually end up driving everyone away.

Actually, I don't go to Scarborough Town Centre for the same reasons ... whether or not my perception is real or imagined, it's my perception and I'd rather not go there.

Personal I think that is kind of stupid not going somewhere just because something happened thee. What if you found out that someone was killed at your favorite WDW resort would you stop going there?

My husband worked there for about a year and a half and had few issues. It's not really a downscale or gang-ridden mall anymore. It's just a mall, with a big multiplex and a ton of chain restaurants surrounding. Not that anyone has to go anyplace they don't want to.

Personally, I think it's a stupid question. If WDW resembled Scarbourough Town Centre, yes, I would stop going there. How many people have stopped going to Mexico because of what is happening there? Is that stupid too?

Nobody's telling you you shouldn't shop there but I certainly don't have if I don't want to.

First of all mexico is a completely different situation and I was trying to make a point about how not going somewhere just becuse something happened in the past there. For example when you go to WDW do you ride Big Thunder, if you do did you know people have gotten killed on it. True they weren't stabbed or shot but if someone getting killed somewhere is a good reason to not go somewhere then stop going to WDW.

Why is Mexico a completely different situation? You said it was stupid reason not to go somewhere because something happened there. Well, a lot of stuff happened at Scarborough Town Centre a while ago.

Besides, when did this become a debate on why I should go to Scarborough Town Centre. I remember it when it was gang ridden and uncomfortable for me to walk around. You can have your reasons for going there and I can have mine despite how stupid you think my reasons are.

I don't go walking in dark alleys either. It's my perogative.

Forgot to say, yeah, I ride Big Thunder but that's the only roller coaster I ride because I have a very healthy fear of the other roller coasters.

And to bring this thread back on topic.... I'm lucky in that I go to Barrie quite often and their Disney Store still seems to be thre (well, I hope so.... I haven't been there since before Christmas) and I'm also near Vaughn Mills.

Have to admit though that the Disney Stores have been disappointing in terms of merchandise lately. I think the stuff online is way better.

Mexico is diffident because it's happening in many places there. Also it is a totally different situation because it involves a country not a mall.

You stared it by saying you don't want to go there when you said that you wouldn't go there. Just because there was gang activity somewhere doesn't mean you should avoid it completely. If you go there you will see security patrolling it just like they do at any other mall in Toronto. I don't think your reasons for not going to Scarborough Town Centre are stupid, what I'm saying is it seams more like an attitude people seem to have about just because something happened somewhere you stop going there. For example do you go downtown, there are more things that probably happen there then at Scarborough town centre.

Wow does I know I would anywhere, and what does this have to do with going to a Disney Store at a mall.

HEY! Ladies, Gentlemen... ENOUGH!

This is a Disney discussion board. For such a "Pixie Dusted" type place, there's a lot of snark and snarl from the keyboard warriors. Ain't the anonymity of the internet grand!

C'mon - are you all 3 years old running around shouting "You started it"?

Can we now go back to trip planning, excitement, countdowns and magic instead of general rudeness?

I love Scarborough Town Centre. :flower3: Anyone know where in the mall it is going?

My guess would be where they currently have a construction wall on the lower level nearest to the entrance from the TTC. That seams to be the only place available that doesn't have a Constitution perment on it. It might also go into the store across form Starbucks by the Bay also on the lower level, but I think waht was there is just renovating.
