Toronto bound

Hi Canada Board,

Hope you can give us some tips. We are headed for Toronto for a short anniversary trip and staying near the theaters. Have no real plans and will be there 4 days. Last time we saw Lion King and the Loma castle. We like museums, beaches, shopping, eating, not real into night life. We will not have a car. Any suggestions for us? Two adults mid 40's.
Thanks for your help!! I was looking at a Toronto Tourism site and got very confused with the talk of different neighborhoods and such. We are not big city people but loved visiting this city before.

Right now playing in the theatre district is "Hairspray" and "The Producers".

You have to check out the ROM, Royal Ontario Museum. Then there is the AGO, Art Gallery of Ontario.

Beaches, well It would be nice but they are usually closed! But head down to the lake anyways! Take a walk along the Boardwalk.

Walk along Yonge Street but not too late at night!

If you want to get cheap tickets to the theatres, I believe there is a kiosk somewhere near the Eaton Centre to buy them the day of the show.
There are many districts downtown that have fabulous eating venues! Little Italy, Chinatown, The Danforth(Greek), Little India(can't think of the proper name) is around Gerrad and Coxwell.
You can take a bus almost anywhere! Don't forget to catch a Jays game at the Skydome or go up the CN tower!
Hope this helps. I believe our large drug store chain Shoppers Drug Mart sells tickets a for a little less than regular price.

I've heard good things about the bus tours hosted by Grayline and others. These take you to all parts of the city you've heard mentioned and you can get off, walk around, shop, and get back on later. I'm thinking about doing this myself as we live 25 minutes from Toronto but don't know the city that well. If you try it, please let me know what you thought.

Check out Queens Quay. There are marinas, boat tours, dance theatre, art galleries, tourist shopping, restaurants, etc. Pier 4 is a good seafood restaurant. You can also take a ferry to the Islands, which have beautiful scenery, nature trails, beaches, etc. Ontario Place is pretty cool, too. If it's a hot day, bring your bathing suits.
