Toronto Airport Express Bus service?

One of my sons is taking the Greyhound Bus in from Niagara (where he goes to college) to Toronto to catch a plane to Edmonton and I was looking into transportation from the Toronto Greyhound depot out to the airport and found Toronto Airport Express http://torontoairportexpress.com/index.php which looks to be a great service, with online booking, and reasonable for a student.

Was wondering if anyone had taken this service? The bus stop is at Edward and Elizabeth Streets across from the Greyhound depot and I was wondering if there is a sign, are the buses yellow like in the picture on their website and any other helpful info.

I've not picked up the bus at that stop, but it is generally well marked. Since it is the bus terminal, there are always workers around that you can ask.

My problem with the bus is that you drive all over downtown Toronto before heading to the airport (I think that the bus depot is stop 2 of 9). The one time I took it (and I got on at a later stop), I found it very annoying. I generally don't have much luggage, and prefer to just take the TTC.

The buses do look like the ones on the website.

Thanks for the reply crashbb. I think this will probably be the easiest for my son and he won't mind the stops.

However, what TTC transit could he take from the Greyhound Depot to YYZ?

I located a GO transit bus from Yorkdale but the 2 times shown wouldn't work for his arrival time into Toronto from Niagara on the Greyhound and his flight time - 2:30pm Thursday on Westjet.

Are they taking the Grayhound into the city? Where are they starting their trip from (I'm assuming that they don't live in the bus terminal - though there are some apartments around here).

I work beside the bus terminal, though I don't often leave from here to go to the airport. I just take the subway to Kipling station (western end of the Bloor-Danforth line) and there is a bus (192 Airport Rocket) that goes to the airport. It stops once before getting the airport and T3 (the WJ terminal) is the first terminal it stops at (I think that there is one more possible stop on airport property before hitting T3). Usually it is non-stop from Kipling Station to T3. I travel pretty lightly, so have no problems with the subway/bus.

Yes, my son will be arriving in Toronto via Greyhound from St. Catharine's around 10am. I think he will probably have a carry-on backpack and a duffle bag to check at the airport. His flight is at 2:30pm on Westjet, so as long as he gets to Toronto ok, he has lots of time to get to the airport.

I will pass along the alternate route you suggested and he can decide what he wants to do.

Thanks very much for the very useful info!

Is there not a bus that goes directly to the airport from St. Catherine's?

Niagara Airbus may be a good option. I have no idea of the cost of a bus from St. Catherine's to Toronto, but the cost of the Airport Express is about $33 (round trip).

A bus from St. Catherine's direct to the airport ranges from about $90 to $106 (depending on pick up location -some are "discount locations). Also return.

How much money will you son be saving by doing the trip in two parts? He'll be basically driving past the airport (okay a few miles south) on his way from St. Catherine's into downtown Toronto.

He can even get a shuttle directly from his house (but I didn't price that out).

I think the above poster is on to something here. Why not get a shuttle from his home town directly to the airport?

If this isn't possible, I can definitely recommend the airporter that you mentioned in your OP. I used it twice with great success. The buses are comfortable, reliable and affordable with the stops well-marked.

As a college student, his city bus into St. Catharine's from Welland is free (well, included in his tuition). The Greyhound from St. C's is $12.87 student fare. He has taken this route several times before so is familiar with it. The student fare for the Airport Express Bus from the Toronto Greyhound depot to the airport is $16.15.

We are picking him up when he returns and taking him back to Welland on Monday night, so he doesn't have to worry about return costs.

He is going to Edmonton to play in a World of Warcraft tournament at the West Edmonton Mall. It's not something that I'm happy with right before exams but not much I can say to a 22 year old! He is sponsored so all his costs are paid for but he apparently told the sponsor that he could find a cheap way to the airport. :confused3

I'm glad you had success with the airport bus, wdwtweets, as I think that's the method my son is taking from the Toronto Greyhound depot to the airport.
