Lots of tornado damage here in NC. My mom and dad's house has major damage, but thank God they are okay! We are headed down to help with whatever we can. My mom said she could see the SUV bouncing up and down through the window. The other car is toast, as is their screen porch, front porch and everything that was outside. Nature can sure be fierce! Please say a prayer if you pray or send good thoughts if not. This is in Dunn NC, but there is damage all over the central and eastern part of the state.

Wow ya'll got hit hard up there! We're in upstate SC and got really lucky. We were under a watch until 1 pm. We had the rain and wind, the suns out now but the wind is still strong. Luckily all we lost were pine trees.

Yikes! My brother is going to college in Salisbury this fall. I pray that everything is okay throughout the state!

I will keep you all in my thoughts!

We are lucky, the storm went south of us and what did come up far enough was broken up by the mountains. However, the storms last weekend caused some major damage and they have now confirmed that a second EF1 did happen. So that was one out here where I am and one down by the University. Freaky!

I hope the clean up goes well and am SO glad your family is okay.

The mountains did break up a lot torandos. It has been some major damage when tornado hit the city. It seem like being by major storms every week. We even told half staff not even bother coming work because of the storms.

All know I tired of bad storms. My yard has not recover. I have roof leak. I can't get fix because a lot people is head me because there damage to there homes.

Everyone stay safe. Remember when thunder roars come in side.

I am so sorry your parents are going through this but thankful they are okay. I will definitely say a prayer for you and all those affected by this storm system.

This time of year is always very scary.

OP: sorry about your parents house, but glad they are all right.

My DD is down in the outer banks on a youth group retreat, so I have been in contact with her.

We live in the southeastern part of Va. and we were under a tornado warning, so I was hugging the bath tub with my weather radio.

thankfully, no twister here, but in nearby cities, weren't so lucky.

Hmm...we're just outside of Winston[-Salem and while the weather was unpleasant, we never got anything I would consider "deadly". It rained like a sonofagun for about an hour and the wind go t pretty strong, but it never felt dangerous.

We were lucky.

We are in the Rowland, NC, area. Some damage here, including our neighbor's police cruiser. The hail damage to it was so bad, it looks as if it had been vandalized. Windshield cracked, back window shattered, and the paint just ripped off in places. I've never seen anything like it. My house, less than 400 yards away, experienced the prettiest sun while the black clouds were over his house--very eerie.

The neighbor has needed a new police car for a while. I'd say his is totaled.

The house damage wasn't as bad as we thought--the porch lost a column and the screen is all ripped off the screen porch. My dad's car is totalled, totally crushed by a tree. The yard is like a disaster area--a 40 year old, 10 ft diameter pine tree totally uprooted and landed about 2 feet from their house, several other trees all over the yard and debris from all over in a pile. It really is surreal and I don't know how the house survived. We managed to get their car out into the driveway; it was trapped in the carport by downed power lines and we did what we could to help with immediate threats. We will go back down tomorrow morning for the cleanup. I hate to see what the rest of the street looks like. We heard it was bad, but did not venture further.

News was just saying there were 62 possible tornadoes in NC today. I think 3 people were killed.

We are in Western NC and were very lucky that we hardly got a thing. There was some flooding but it seems as if everyone was rescued. Everyone is in my thoughts and prayers.

I am sorry to hear about your parents house. I am glad they are ok. It was scary here too, a tornado touched down close to our house but not close enough to make damage we spend 2 hours locked in our bathroom with 6 dogs and 2 cats!

Live in Eastern NC and several counties out here got hit by tornadoes. One hit a neighborhood 8 miles west of our house. My DH is up there now (he's a firefighter) helping out searching houses.

The weatherman said they are calling this the 2nd worst tornado storms in our area in the past 30 years.

How scary :guilty:. So sorry about your parents home damage and loss of car. Wonderful you can be there for them, thanks for the update and thank God they're ok.

Sadly last news report deaths may be as high as 22 in N.C. :sad1:

Thankfully we've had contact with both our DS, DD, and families, praise God they're ok and sustained no damage.

Mother Nautre has sure taken her toll on the US this year :guilty:. My heart and prayers go out to all the families/businesses affected.

Yikes! Sounds positively nasty, but main thing is they are ok. I imagine those images will be in their heads for quite some time, very frightening. Hope you are able to get things as normal as possible for them and all who are afffected. I agree, Mother Nature is certainly in a nasty mood lately!

They say our state got hit really hard. So very sad.

That storm system was massive-high, high winds in the west, snow in the north/central area and tornadoes in the south. The local paper was reporting that 40 people died as a result of this one huge storm system.

I seen this on the news earlier. Breaks my heart. and prayers to all those who are going through this.

So far they have confirmed 22 deaths in NC alone. So, so sad.

One of the areas hardest hit is where my company has a facility. I hope and pray all are safe there. I can't get into my work email to check for updates.
