Please pay attention to the weather alerts and take shelter until the warning is gone.

In HS now. They have shut down the rides. We are sitting in TSMM queue. Tornado warnings are coming through cell alerts & they expire at 10:30, so we may be sitting until then. :confused3 But we are inside & drying out, so I'm grateful!

Do they not have safer places they instruct guests to wait in case of a tornado warning? I can't imagine the TSMM queue is a very safe place if it gets hit.

what place is safe if a tornado hit sit? what about Beingindoors at tsmm or any other ride is unsafe? their arent underground bunkers at mgm

They rushed us all into Dinosaur. I figure most of the buildings are hurricane code, so probably as safe as you can get.

Yes, it is big time raining here, I'm so sorry for you guys. There are lots of tornado shelters at the theme parks. I imagine TSMM is pretty safe. GMR is also safe, since it is so huge. Again, sorry about the rain and try to stay as dry and safe as possible. Heck, just go back to your hotel and stick it out.

This is NOT the day to put on your poncho and enjoy the empty parks!! :sad2:

Round 2 of tornado warnings. It's been raining hard on and off all day. I feel bad for those here on vacation.

DD and her husband flew out of orlando today..
they were in their room at POR when the call came that there was a tornado warning and they must stay in their room.

But they were supposed to check out about then and get on the Magical express bus..

so she called the front desk to ask what they should do.

So they front desk sent a golf cart over to pick them up and got them to the lobby relatively unscathed (despite the torrential rain coming down all around)..

at the airport, they managed to get on an earlier flight (as they wanted a better chance of making it to the next airport for the next leg of their flight)

they were ground stopped at orlando airport for about an hour on the tarmac, and then once in the air, they hit the turbulence of the century..
such bad turbulence that many people were screaming (including DD) and many others upchucking (including her husband)..

after about a half hour of truly frightful flying, things finally began to calm down and the pilot came on the intercom to apologize for the rough flight.
He said they'd had to fly around some very nasty weather and the turbulence was the worst he'd ever experienced in his career...so i guess it wasn't very much fun up there...
but they made it....so that's good..

i hope things have since improved in orlando and at the parks!!

Eek! So very scary! Glad to hear that people are staying safe indoors.

OMG, I would be very nervous with the tornado warnings but probably a wreck with the turbulence on board the aircraft. Even mild turbulence is enough to get my mind going where I don't want it to! We will be flying to WDW in just a few weeks. In the meantime, your rain today is to become our northeaster tomorrow with 6-10" of snow here. Traffic around here (and we are well away from the big cities who have it much worse) was absolutely insane with rush hour traffic and people getting away ahead of the storm. DS said their was a 52 mile backup on the MA Pike.:crazy2:

We were at HS today. Sat in the sunset food area near RNRC under the covered area during the HUGE thunder and lightning. Crazy!!! Actually rode TOT during the tornado warning. Saw the alert before we got into the elevator. Nothing was said to us. We hung in the gift shop for a bit and then ventured out to Star Tours, by the time we made it to TSMM for our 12 FP, the ride was closed temporarily for maintence. We ended up heading back to our resort as it was so wet and we didn't want to wait for it to start up again. Daughter was pretty whiney and miserable by then. Enjoyed a relaxing day watching movies in our condo

At MK today during the tornado warning. Just finished mickeys philharmagic and not one CM said anything although everyone's phones were going off. We were right by the FP+ kiosk and still nothing. The tornado warning was actually issued after the major impact hit MK and it was specifically mentioned for SeaWorld and Universal. More nasty storms rolling through now. We were at Poly and Monorail shut down. People were taking cabs everywhere as the busses were only option. Luckily, the Poly can took us back to VGF tonight.

I would guess MK would be the safest park in a tornado,I know guests can't go in the utilidors but if a tornado came through I would be looking for doors to go under.

We were at AK this morning and were told to take shelter in the Outpost during the tornado warning. It only lasted about five minutes before we were given the all clear. I was happy we didn't need to test the safety of the structure.

The flooding has been very bad. I read that the Disney/Universal area has gotten about 7 inches of rain so far. Many attractions in the AK closed due to flooding, and here at the Beach Club the hallway by the Marketplace is flooded - there may be more on the first floor, we didn't see it.

I hope everyone in the area is safe tonight!

Anyone know if Wishes ever happened at MK last night? It was delayed and delayed and delayed due to lightning, and at 10:45, we finally gave up and left. Saw tons of lightning on the way back too. Just wondering if it ever went off ....

*This* is one reason why I *do not* fly anymore - would rather drive and actually sometimes it's quicker - by the time you get there early, park, etc. then finally getting to your destination on the other end - definitely less stressful for me.

The last flight I took was very similar to this one and I said *no more* unless extreme emergency. Dh agrees - with his work had to fly to Japan 18 times - had a few bad flights, plus one scary maintenance one.

We drive, take our time, or don't plan to go. Safer to fly? Yes, I've heard it all, but it won't change our minds - our *journey* is a lot of our enjoyment. :goodvibes

We were at MK during the tornado warning and knew nothing about it until we sat down for lunch and I saw the alert on my phone. No one at MK mentioned anything about this warning and we continued to ride the rides that were open. In hindsight, this is pretty scary!

The warning didn't cover The Magic Kingdom, only Epcot and Hollywood Studios. It was in a small area.

Not sure what time it was, but I heard Wishes last night. I live nearby and remember hearing fireworks at an odd time and thinking it must have been due to a rain delay. I think it was sometime after 11:00 though.
