There is a tornado warning here right now. It looks so eerie outside.

I thought that crazy storm system was gone...:( stay safe..

The storm is along the seaboard now, shep, hopefully blowing into the Atlantic soon and good riddance. Be watchful, Becki, don't hang here if a warning is in your area. Warning means business.

I'm being watchful but there's not much place to go in this house, Dan.

Becki, find somewhere away from a window. Move the couch and hide behind it if neccessary.
Under a table, in the tub.

Keep watch and listen, usually you can hear something coming.

We get warnings a lot and nothing happens, but you can't be too careful.

Thanks, Serena....Richmond isn't a very tornado prone area (I've been in one in Salt Lake, but thought it was a bad thunderstorm) so I didn't know those things. There's a bathroom between my room and the room next door....I could get in there.

Okay...I just heard them say it's been changed to a tornado watch. They did suggest that nobody go out and run errands right now into the early afternoon, though.

Here's some info I got from our news site.

Surviving a Tornado

If you are in a home or small building, go to the basement or an interior room on the lowest level, such as a closet or bathroom. If possible, get under something sturdy and cover your head.

In a high-rise building, go to a small room in the interior. Avoid windows or rooms with exterior walls.

In schools, nursing homes, hospitals, factories and shopping centers, go to a predesignated shelter area.

In a mobile home or car, leave immediately and go to a substantial structure.

If you are outside and unable to find shelter, lie flat in the nearest ditch, ravine or culvert and cover your head with your hands

Thanks, Serena. Unfortunately, I can't go to the lowest level (it's a 3 floor building that's been split into apartments and I don't even know the people on the lowest level) but I can go to an interior room.

The many people who survived the movie threater that was demolished in Ohio yesterday were taking shelter in an interior hallway of the theater, having been given 28 minutes of warning. They emptied the seating area and gathered everyone in the interior hallway. When it hit, there were actually cars thrown into the seating area, but no deaths. (one did die in parking lot).

If a tornado was coming, a great time to get to know the people on the first floor.

Here they tell you to get to know your neighbors below. Just in case.

Interesting, Dan....I hadn't heard about that. Well, the tornado watch is now over although there are still a few storms in the area so I'm going to go to class in a few minutes.
