We have been planning to stay our entire trip to Orlando at POR but have been given the opportunity to stay at the Gaylord for $50 a night. What would you do?

We are going for 9 days and spending 4 at Disney. Im thinking about staying 4 nights at Disney and the other 5 at Gaylord... but am wishy washy LOL. Help. WWYD?

I would stay at Gaylord. It is a very nice resort.

Perhaps stay at POR just for your Disney portion.

But Gaylord is RIGHT THERE. I mean--1 minute down the road, you are riding along side the Pop Century. You just cannot get any closer with any off property resort IMHO including Hotel Plaza Blvd.

However--they do charge a daily rate for parking at Gaylord.

Definitely stay at Gaylord! $50 is a great deal! The half and half idea sounds great- have a wonderful trip.

I guess I am too spoiled - but I don't like to stay offsite. I love the convenience of not having to drive my car once I arrive at WDW. Even in the past when I have gone to Universal or other places I always like coming back to my room at a Disney Resort.......

If you plan on taking advantage of Extra Magic Hours then POR may be worth the extra cost, depending on how much of a difference in price there is. If it's $100/day difference and there are 4 people in your party you have to decide if it's worth $25/day to get that extra time in (it would be worth it to me). If the only thing you plan on getting out of POR is some sort of magic, save your money and go out for a magical night on the town instead.

is an exceptional resort. Keep in mind they usually charge a $15/nt resort fee and charge for parking. include this in your pricing.

SO much nicer than POR. no comparison. no comparison. would be closer to staying at Grand Floridian (minus the excpetional location of the monorail.)

It is as close as the All Star Resorts. Very close. Their bus service is not nearly as nice as Disney's!

It's an employee discount of some sort that was offered to us by friends.

I was going to ask this as well. Does the employee rate include the resort rate and the parking fee? I think the parking fee is as much as the resort fee (which could add $30 per night).

The resort is very nice and in a great location. I would probably split my stay.

Gaylord for $50, that's a no brainer. It's so beautiful and definitely worth the $50!!!

Never stayed at POR though, so can't compare as far as that goes. But the Gaylord, I would not pass that deal up.

Good luck and let us know what you decide!

Were you going to get a MYW package or room only? The reason I ask is that with the MYW package isn't there a deal right now where you get $500 Disney gift card if you stay in a deluxe resort for 5 nights? If you were going to take advantage of that deal, then stay the 5 nights and the last 4 nights at Gaylord.

However, if you were doing room only, then I'd go for Gaylord hands-down. It's like comparing staying at the Grand Floridian vs a Holiday Inn. Which would you rather stay in? The added space and luxury will more than make up for being a outside of the gates.

Do you need to rent a car if you stay there? If so, I'd factor in that cost and see which one comes out ahead. Parking fees too, both at the hotel and at the parks.

When in Disney I hate the idea of offsite. However, the Gaylord is a very very nice hotel and for that rate I'd jump on it! I have stayed at the Gaylord 3 times and have been very impressed all three times.

I'm spoiled too...........it wouldn't be a Disney vacation for me if I weren't at a Disney resort.

However, if you want to try the Gaylord, I'd do a split stay.

I love staying on-site, but the Gaylord for $50/night is a great deal. I'd factor in all costs (rental car, parking/resort fees, Disney package offers, etc.) and see if it's still a great deal. If it works out in the Gaylord's favor, I'd stay there this time while you can get that great rate, and try POR next time.
