Have HRH & PBH reservations for Sept 2001.
HRH-129./PBH-160. I haven't been to either and only have two nites. Would be grateful for guidance
in choosing. I've read all the threads and read
conflicting stories. Is there any salvation for this confused camper? Please advise!!! Thanks so much!

Hmmm...I stayed one night at PBH and two at HRH. I would have a hard time choosing between both. Why not stay at both and tell us which one you liked better? I don't think you would lose either way.

I don't know anything about what you are looking for in a hotel, but this should help

Hard Rock Hotel
If you are looking for

Activities for every member of a family including:
Lifesize Chess and checkers
Planned daily activities for kids
Sand volleyball
A lively pool area including the fantastic 240 ft slide
Don't mind music played at a higher volume
Want the option to walk to the theme parks
Like the California/Rock star theme

Portofino Bay Hotel
If you are looking for

quieter surroundings
want little places to get away from it all (they have some great courtyards and public balconies for quiet conversation)
A little more romance
Added services such as nightly turndown service (Hard Rock has it only on the club level unless it has been requested)
Italian Ambiance
There never seems to be a lot of people at the PBH even when it is full
Easier parking
3 pools--including 2 pools that are usually quiet
the PBH is a little more traditional
Has more business facilities

It will all depend on you needs as to which hotel will be right for you.

We decided to split our Disney trip to have FOTL at US/IOA, and went with the HRH because we had a teen and it was less money. We loved the HRH. I expected a moderate hotel, and was really surprised from the time we drove up. We thought it was one of the nicest we ever stayed at. We had a pool view that looked like we were at the tropics. Very upbeat, beautiful pool, beach club with tropical drinks, but at night DH and I would sit above the pool outside the Velvete Lounge relaxing and unwinding. Our last day we went over to PBH. This seemed like the place to be if you want seclusion and peace and quiet, but it was a little too subdued to us after our days at the HRH. After all, we love rock & roll.

We actually enjoyed the HRH over the Beach Club which we went to for the last few days of our trip (Which was twice as much for a room) Just one opinion, but this is the first time that we're booking to go back to the same hotel a year later. In all my travels, this is the best buy we ever got for our money.

Good luck choosing.

My family has decided that HRH is the nicest hotel in Orlando that we've ever stayed at and we've stayed at just about all the Disney resorts including YC and Grand Floridian. It is SO convenient to be able to walk to both parks and not have to wait for any transportation. Our room was huge and gorgeous (4101) and we would go there again in a heartbeat. In fact, we all agreed that this would be a wonderful 4 day getaway every year. You won't regret choosing the HRH.

I think more and more people are going to the HRH and feel like we do. I feel sure recommending this resort to Oddogg.
One thing, did you have a pool or garden? We had a beautiful pool view, but hear they may not have Enter. rates next Easter so we're thinking of a garden view. Polling people who have gone.
