Tori Spelling, Why is she still "famous"?

I probably did in high school. Actually, I'm sure I did in high school. I've grown up. If it's something a person has no control over, (and I don't mean plastic surgery control...ie: no one should feel they should HAVE to change a body part to be accepted), then I should shut my mouth. If they chose to make themselves look ridiculous, then they are fair game....but I certianly wouldn't on a public message board. Perhaps to my husband.

Tori Spelling has has a **** job. I think that's about it. Maybe her nose. I don't know. Don't particularily care. She doesn't look ridiculous. That's why tabloids make so much money, people like to look down on famous people anyway they can to make themselves feel better.
You make some good points.

And you can't teach an old dog new tricks. Pretty is as pretty does.

It makes me sad when people comment on other peoples looks in a negative way, celebrity or not.
I dunno, maybe its just highschool flashbacks or something.
Besides, who has the right to comment on someone in that way? Even if they were an astonishingly beautiful person they still lack the right to put someone down. One could reply "pot, meet kettle", "look in the mirror Dawn" etc, but what good is that going to do?
I also admit I don't like the double standard, if OP is calling Tori Spelling ugly that is alright, but if other posters are telling op to look in the mirror, etc that is wrong?

ugg. Too little caffine.

I think that actresses enter the public arena, not only because presumably, they can "act" but also because they have a personal appeal. They not only have to 'sell' their acting ability but, physical appearance certainly is part of their marketability. There is not a supermarket aisle in any given week that is free of a Tori Spelling picture or article. They fact that she is out there, posing for pictures, giving interviews, creating buzz, makes her a target for comment. There have been a lot of posters who have not liked Angelina Jolie, do not find her attractive, etc and have said so. I happen to like her, find her attractive and feel that she has turned her rather confused, tulmultuous life around for the better. Others on this board do not like anything about her. That's okay. She is a celebrity, has put herself in the public and attracts comment. Paris Hilton is another public figure that generates a lot of comment as well. So?

By that token, wouldn't it be possible to say that because you post on a public message board with your picture attached and attract comments that you have put yourself "out there" as well? Therefore, we should be allowed to critique you just like a celebrity.

Doesn't make the thread or its contents better but it sure does negate your PP about pot-stirring since politics is no longer pemitted.

No one said it was ok to pick on anyone's looks. But yes, I do see a slight difference between the two. Will Tori ever be on teh DIS to read this thread? Doubtful. Will Dawn see the hurtful things said about her? ABSOUTELY and that is what makes it way worse IMO.

She is a big girl who voluntarily started a thread saying someone looks like a horse. Why do you feel the need to defend her, I'm sure she can take care of herself.

Yet Dawn, here's the thing. You don't find her attractive and yet others do. Just because you don't see the appeal doesn't negate that there IS appeal. If there wasn't, she wouldn't be on the supermarket shelves.

I'm sick to death of seeing Angelina jolie, Brad Pitt and their kids but what i like or dislike doesn't really matter. I don't buy those magazines anyway so I'm not their target audience. Many people like to read about them. Just because I don't doesn't make them any less appealing to those who like them.
