Top Three Bottom of the Pit Restraunts

This is such a SUBJECTIVE question. Many of the places that have been mentioned here we have eaten at many times and always loved it. I think it ALWAYS boils down to individual experiences at these places. Two families can be in the same restaraunt at the very same time and have totally different experiences.

So, having said that, for us the worst have been:
1. Hollywood and Vine - just because the food wasn't up to par
2. Askerhaus Princess Dinner- this is the ONLY food/service we have ever actually complained to Disney about.
3. Yak and Yeti - Food is overrated (much like the food at Rainforest Cafe and the Dinosaur place- same company) and you can get nearly the exact same stuff a the counter service joint connected - for a lot cheaper.

Only one place I've ate at in all our visits that I hated.
My DH & I ate at the Tangerine Cafe last year at lunch. It is CS but was horrible.
We both spent the next few hours hoping it would stay down. Was one of those meals that it kept seeming worse in our thoughts as the day went by.
Never, never again!

Mama Melrose's(I found the food too spicy and the pasta barely cooked.)
Electric Umbrella(With all the selections at Disney this place is just boring and subpar.)
San Angel Inn(This wasn't bad, but I've had more authentic Mexican food. I expect more at Epcot.)

I'd have to say
Backlot Express I know its not TS but ack ack ack ack! I won't say more than that :)
Chef Mickeys for Dinner (I LOVeeeeeeeeee it for Breakfast)
and
Marrakesh ...now it may not be there fault but I just couldn't find one thing I liked on the menu and the waiter was really rude when I said I just wanted a Mint Iced Tea and no food and told me I had to eat something. I was taken a back (i was with someone ordering a full meal so its not like I was hogging a table for just a drink)

But really I would try any of them again just not Marrakesh due to the menu disagreeing with me:) (i have allergies and this was before I was a good DISer and looked things up ahead of time)

1. Mama Melrose - food not good, restaurant FREEZING cold, server nearly comatose

2. ABC Commissary - DH pronounced it "the worst burger he's ever had" (and we've eaten at Kennedy Space Center!)

3. Sci-Fi - My meal was inedible but the shake was good.

(Notice any pattern to my "Worst 3" list?)

1. San Angel - spent the night in the bathroom after that meal.
2. Biergarten - this would be dh #1, he couldnt stand it. I thought it was acceptable food but dont enjoy sitting with others
3. Narcooses - just went there in May for our anniv. Overpriced food, server who practically ignored us and didnt even barely acknowledge our anniv, rude host when being greeted and terrible view of the fireworks.

I'm not canceling San Angel Inn...I have read the negative reviews too, but have also read positive things. Furthermore, I have 2 friends that have been there recently and loved it, and I know their taste and trust their opinions. And even furthermore, I like to go and judge for myself. I also live in NYC, where we do not have the greatest authentic Mexican food like you would find in the Southwest, so my opinions probably vary greatly from someone that is from California or Texas.

As an above poster stated, reviews are very subjective, and I do notice that in many negative reviews, people either say that the restaurant didn't meet their expectations (what were those expectations anyway?), or that the price they paid was not worth it for a burger, etc. Does it mean the burger really didn't taste good, or the person felt they should have paid a few dollars less and that's why they won't go back? I live in NYC, food is expensive everywhere here, and paying $30 for an entree alone is not unheard of...therefore, the prices at WDW are not a complete shock to me.

I totally agree with you. Obviously, some people dont like anything! We have had very few bad experiences at WDW regarding food. We love San Angel Inn, CRT, Crystal Palace, Sci-Fi. We haven't eaten at Tony's which pretty much everyone I talked to didn't like. Everyone has different tastes. Many of the "bad reviews" that I have read were more about the price. It's WDW!! Its gonna be expensive. As far as bad service, we have rarely had bad service. Remember, sometimes being rude goes both ways

I would say Planet Hollywood at Downtown Disney, food was alright but hate the fact they try to sell you everything while at your table. Not excatly a disney spot, but still on the map

1. Le Cellier - we had a great meal here once and so went back on our next trip. It was truly horrible. Service terrible, waiter rude, food uncooked/inedible. We will never go back.
2. Flame Tree BBQ - disgusting food
3. Ohana - meats were way overdone/dry, sides gross, dessert gross. We were seated right along the walkway where the kids actvities took place (we didn't know there would be these activities) which were so disorganized and then we literally had other adults pushing us in our chairs, leaning onto our table, pushing our baby's high chair so that they could take pictures of their kids doing these. We did like the little fried wonton chips with dipping sauce, but I think they did away with those and the chicken wings.

WCC: Food was cold and congealed when it arrived. My wine glass had greasy fingerprints AND fresh lipstick smears on it. Service was good but I sat solo in the "library" so the nice waitperson knew I wasn't there to get yelled at and behaved accordingly.

Hollywood & Vine: Nothing special about it at all and some items a bit gross looking.

Ohana: Most of the meat was quite overcooked but the atmosphere was where they lost me. I know I'm in the minority but I hated it. And it's not just that I object to eating in that kind of chaos, but I hate the million people blocking the front of the restaurant trying to either get in without an ADR or hovering around the hostess stand trying to get seated before the rest of the throng.

Kona Cafe at Polynesian Resort - The Asian plate I ordered had a cheap Asian sauce that was straight from a grocery store bottle over simple noodles. Come on, I could have done that myself, and I don't call myself a cook!

Mama Melrose at DHS - It's been awhile since I vowed never to return there, but the reviews on this thread tell me it is still as yucky as when I was there. The only thing I can say is that I know what Italian food tastes like, and this isn't it.

Cosmic Ray's at MK - The ribs I received had not been properly stripped of fat. There was at least 3/8" of fat in a big layer across the whole slab. This should have been removed before cooking. I had to scrape it off, then look at it on my plate while I ate. Gross! :sad2:

1)Les chef de france- the food was terrible and cold.
2)Aloha show- The food was ok at best and the show was awful!
3)Jiko's- just nothing special.

I've had good and mediocre experiences in a variety of places so I hesitate to throw out an entire restaurant. I've had great experiences at 'Ohana, but the last time we went was nothing like the old times. I'll try it again in the future I'm sure. It could have been an off night or the "new menu" which has since changed again :)

I have never had a truly BAD restaurant experience in Disney World. So, if a place appeals to you, try it, you might like it! No one restaurant can appeal to everyone, we all have different tastes! My parents hate spicy, think Olive Garden is peppery, they would LOVE what another poster thinks is bland. Different strokes, you know! :)

Personally, I like San Angel Inn. I love the view and the sopa azteca and we get truly outstanding service here. I will say that the chips and salsa could be MUCH better- Tostitos doesnt do it for me. But, I find the Chef's suggestions to usually be the tastiest option- and I got a free churro last time I was there :)

Don't cancel a place because of a negative review, if I did I would never have tried half the places I did! :)

1. Coral Reef...none of us liked our entrees
2. Sci-Fi....disgusting food
3.Crystal Palace dinner...way too noisy

Now let me say we have been to WDW 12 times and have eaten in mnay places as we always try something new or that we have not been to for awhiler and we have had some fabulous meals ther.

Mama Melrose's (used to be good years ago, not so much anymore lol), Nine Dragons (ick!), and San Angel Inn.

We have eaten at lot of WDW restaurants and like a lot of them. But that would be another thread. I can only think of two that we won't go back to - The first is the oft mentioned ABC Commissary. We thought that it was horrible for even counter service.
We are in a minority for the other one but my husband refuses to go back to the California Grill because of the horrible service we received there. We eat out a lot, both cheap and very expensive, but the service there was insulting. We had very early reservations with no plans of being there any time close to the fireworks. When we got there the restaurant was practically empty, maybe one fifth of their tables were taken but we were seated at a table back by the bar that only had a view of the waiters drink station. I kindly asked if we could be moved to any table that was in sight of a window and was told no. We took one look at the mostly empty restaurant and politely said no thank you and walked out. As we got ready to get on the elevators a lady came after us and said that maybe they had a better table after all. I don't know why they couldn't have accommodated our request in the first place. It was hard to enjoy anything after that treatment.

Backlot Express @ Hollywood Studios!!!

They had BBQ Pork on a sub roll. If you've ever had BBQ Pork ANYWHERE in the SOUTH or WEST for that matter...you would find this BBQ to be completely unacceptable. Just unacceptable.

I didn't really care for Mama Melrose or Hollywood & Vine either.

I think it depends on what you eat on a daily basis. If you eat alot of prepackaged and prepared foods your taste buds are going to vary from someone who does not. The worst food we have experienced was
1. Chef Mickeys dinner
2. ABC Commissionary
3. 1900 Park Fare dinner

There have been other dinners that one time it was good but the other time it was not as well. I guess when I eat at any Disney locatiion I hope for decent edible food that does not appear to be frozen aka baked potatoes, steak. Anything like lasagna, stuffing, some desserts, anything that you can buy in the frozen food section at a supermarket is what I try to avoid. Since I do not eat this at home, I surely do not want it for a daily meal on vacation. So all reviews are subject to ones taste buds and what they are use to eating.

Another vote for ABC!

Coral Reef - not a fish eater so I got the steak. It was dry. The salad was horrible, my first thought was they picked it out of The Land!

Pepper Market at CSR - only stayed at CSR once and the food courts at other moderates were better price wise and food wise. Disliked the automatic gratuity.
